Funny you mention fetish, lemming.
The US Founding fathers also had one. Interesting, no?
George Washington: "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the
people's liberty teeth and keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than
99% of them guns by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very
atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference crime. When firearms go, all goes,
we need them every hour." (Address to 1st session of Congress)
George Mason: "To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them." (3 Elliot,
Debates at 380)
'One loves to possess arms, though they hope never to have occasion for them.-Thomas Jefferson 1796
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the Gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.
--- Thomas Jefferson
To suppose arms in the hands of citizens, to be used at individual discretion, except in private self-defense, or by partial orders of towns, countries or districts of a state, is to demolish every constitution, and lay the laws prostrate, so that liberty can be enjoyed by no man; it is a dissolution of the government. The fundamental law of the militia is, that it be created, directed and commanded by the laws, and ever for the support of the laws.
---John Adams, A Defence of the Constitutions of the United States 475 (1787-1788)

I don't normally post on these type of subjects as it can get heated, but since I felt very strongly about this election, I guess I'll throw my .2 in. I would be lying if I said I was happy about Obama being elected the next president, there are several reasons why, none of which are really important now. For all you who say that we are whining and bitching the day after and that we should just support him already since he is our president now, I sure haven't heard any support for Bush in awhile. My husband and I are in our 20's and seem to be in the minority of our age group as we are both conservative republicans, hold down jobs while going to school, own a home which we have never been late on a payment on. We did vote, donated money for our candidate, handed out campaign materials and made phone calls to get the word out and try and do our part. It alarms me that so many other people my age have voted for Obama merely on his image and not what he stands on. All because of 2 words, hope and change. I feel that he does inspire hope in people, but as far as change, nothing he is saying is new, it's not that it hasn't been tried in the past. Government has way too much power and control as it is and Obama and the Democratic congress will take it a step further still, not to mention get this country deeper in debt. I really hope he ammends his tax plan as I see it as a sure fire way to hurt the economy further. I sure don't make anywhere near 250k a year, but I don't think anyone should be punished for doing so. My parents immigrated to this country several decades ago with nothing. They never took a cent from the government, worked and sacrificed their butts off and now fall into that lovely little bracket that Obama wants to tax the hell out of, how is that fair? For those of you who made an informed vote for Obama, I would not begrudge you happiness on this day as it is a historical one. I myself am feeling a little trepidation as we go into the next 4 years and will be watching to see how all this unfolds.

It's ironic how you bash the very nation that gives you the freedom and protection to do so. You are a coward. You sit behind a computer on a dog board spewing garbage. If you had an ounce of backbone you would be using these freedoms to express your opinion in the correct venue. But no, here we sit reading the words of a lowly coward, too scared to actually take action and voice himself where people actually care. Why do you continually post this garbage here? Easy! You are just too plain scared to actually do something.

"Maybe Obama can find me a job....Let's see Obama fix THAT."
What Obama will try to do is undo the things that put cooperations in the position were it's in their best interest to lay you off.
It's not about giving you anything. It's about giving you an opportunity to reach your potential.
