Why are people breeding and selling German Shepherd\Poodle mixes? why do we need one of those, i can see it now hypoallergic German Shepherds.

Stupid people don't realize that the hypoallergenic coat of the poodle is a MYTH!!

My brother had severe allergies as a kid. We had to get rid of our cat, and we were all heartbroken. When mom asked about other animals, the doctor explained that my brother was likely to develop an allergy to them, too, He also explained it was the dander (flakes of dead skin) from the coat that caused the allergy, and NOT the hair itself. So, a non-shedding breed is just as likely to cause a reaction, as it, too, sheds dander from its coat.

If you develop an allergy to one animal the likelihood of you developing an allergy to others is very high. My brother was allergic to both cats and feathers (he slept on a feather pillow.)

The only advantage of the poodle type coat is it's non-shedding. Personally, I'd rather vacuum up the shed hair than have to have the dog clipped every few months. But then, I love my German Shedding Dogs, and am not overly fond of poodles!

The pups are doing good, they are 2 1/2 weeks old, eyes are open now and teeth are coming in, there walking around and barking and growling and play fighting. A few of them are starting to change colors, and ar turning black and red. Moma's doing great, she loves her babies and is a real good mother, she acts if those she's had pups before, she knows exactly what to do, so far they are all the same size, no runts even the females are as big a their brothers.

The Australians, when they first crossed Poodles with Labs, did allergy testing to determine which dogs were "hypoallergenic".  Not all Poodles are and not all Poodle crosses are.  Since the Australians were charging a boat load of money for the Labradoodles, of course, US BYB got in on it too.

The poodle actually does not have coat like most dogs, they actually have hair like humans do, that is what makes most of them hypoallergenic. A couple of weeks ago I brought home a 1 yr old GoldenDoodle, the funny thing with him is he has mostly poodle type hair, but in some spots there is golden coat, different texture and color. I'll try to get a picture of him today.

Sincerely,
Beth
