When I brush Echo, she will "flea bite" me.  Guess it's their way of returning the favor.

Not really a habit, but a mannerism.... Brago always tucks his right foot whenever he lies down. I thought nothing of it, just that he was probably laid that way in the womb, but after we had his first litter of pups...they ALL do it!

My boy carries his water dish* around the house... Why? We have no clue. Lol. He also flea bites his leg or my jeans when I'm brushing him. Thanks, 2cents

Sorry, but you are observing so-called "puppy reflexes" some of which go on in the adult dog.

Try deeply scratching your dog just above the tail -- many adult dogs will make odd movements of their tongue or mouth.  Or find a ticklish spot underneath and you may find your adult still kicks his leg as he did when petted in this way as a pup.

if your sitting in the recliner with your hand over the side our male will walk under your hand moves his butt and scratch his own back. And when drinking he puts his whole face in the water bucket and bites the water.

I have one dog that yodels, moans, talks while he is rolling around scratching his own back, and he does this quite loudly, I wish I could put the recording on. He is too funny.  My female with click her teeth like those old wind up teeth when she is excited.  My good friend's 1st K9 had the bad habit of biting behinds of bad guys (she got him already trained and never could break that habit) during a track or drug bust, this K9's son who she now uses for her 2nd K9 has the same habit and dad passed away before son was born.  Surprised the heck out of both of us, me especially when I got my behind grabbed when he "found" me during a tracking exercise.  His sister does it too.  My female must have something in her mouth when she goes potty, I don't care if it is a toy, leaf, or lead.  Just before she squats, she grabs something.  Gotta love those quirks

When I give Beckett a 'butt-scratching' (as described above by MVF), he always stre-e-e-etches out as long as he can. He'll position himself under a tangling hand for a scratch, he's a true mooch. My 2 female puppies are crated next to each other, when they are crated, & our black/tan pup will sneak up to her sister, a sable, & bite her hair that's sticking through between the crates, when the other pup wakes up & whips around to see what's pulling her hair, the b/t pup is looking away, laying on her back, or otherwise acting all innocent. As soon as the sable pup relaxes, she does it again! We had to separate the crates, she was pulling out a patch of hair on the sable pups rump, 'cause of course she always lays back down in the same spot! And my girl Kali has started saying 'yes' when I talk to her. I'm always talking to her as I'm doing chores or whatever, & since my surgery, she's started answering me with a little shrill 'yip', that really sounds like a 'yes'! Better than a cold nose on the back of your leg! jackie harris

When someone would visit Astra would grab a toy and shake the living sh... out of it in front of our guest. I assume she was showing them this is what she could do to them if she really wanted to.

If I leave my coffee cup in the wrong place my dog will drink it when my back is turned.   Not really a strange habit, more a sneeky coffee loving dog.
