What a DUMBA$$!!! OMG, I've never laughed so hard at an idiot in my life! It's a good thing that none of the kids got hurt. Here's your sign for sure! But the question kept coming into my mind... "Why did he show the kids a Glock with a loaded magazine then release the slide to chamber a round?"

decoyD, ROFL! that cop is an "idiot!" He's telling kids to not handle guns and that only professionals should use it and POW! he shoots his foot.... Fokwulfe, Where do I say that the dog is fine? Of course he isn't fine... I just don't think it was his fault other than the irresponsible k9 handler who was looking at the dog the whole time and didn't do a single thing, besides the aftermath. My experience? since when do you know everything about my experience... don't get me wrong but if I saw my Jake or Zambi ever looked at somebody with the same face expression like what the dog in the video was doing I would give them both a hard correction and telling him no. Obedience training has nothing to do with protection training so I don't know why you brought up guard work, which is obviously that the dog in the video wasn't setup to do any kind of guard work. I have some experience in obedience training because I've managed to get a BH on my dog, Jake without a hassle. He was the only dog that was getting a BH to pass.

I rarely post on this site, just lurk. But the remark that obedience has NOTHING to do with protection training couldn't be ignored. IMHO obedience has a whole hell of a lot to do with protection training, be if for sport, K-9 work or personal protection. With out obedience on a protection dog you have handed one of those kids that loaded Glock with the safety off and walked off. Guarding is a very obedient exercise. Most dogs would much rather bite the bad guy than watch him. This was just a case of a stupid or very ignorant K-9 officer and one lucky set of people. Cathy

Very well said Cathy...I was thinking the same thing when I saw that obedience has NOTHING to do with protection...how so far off that statement was!!!!

After reading my posts i admit that i was wrong on the obedience part.... I apologize for any confusion.

here's a thought -- given already that protection is obedience --- well .. the video really states nothing about the training ..or the stability of the dog .... what about: ----- the dog's point of view -- from the training ...his obedience is / means protection !!!! hello -- did anybody stop to think .... in this dog's mind he is conditioned that if anyone -- and i mean anyone approaches this officer -- that is in and of itself considered a threat[ not that in any way agree that this should be ] and it is the canine's job to defend this officer no questions asked -- this officer [ and K9 officer lives are on the line ] ..how many times have we seen canines never even taken out of the vehicles until they have to apprehend ?? until they must be automaltically be deployed to come to help an officer in danger ?? so we do not know from whence the attitude and training of this dog arises -- don't be so fast to condemn this dog without the whole history [ even if it is a foolish stupid one at that ] !! most likely another case of humans failing the GSD - my personal opinion -- questionable training -- besides if the training was good and the dog was faulty -- one could see this coming long ago

I see a handler at fault and reporter starring down a GSD at fault.
