Vom Mager

I have always had great luck with using the foam rollers (pink ones which are large) you can get at any store.  I use EYELASH GLUE, the type you put false eyelashes on with because it is strong, comes off in about 2 weeks, and is used in a sensitive area anyway.  Put it on the roller 3/4 the way around, set down toward the inside base of the ear, but don't block the ear canal, then use the surgical paper tape and wrap it toward the tip.  It has never failed me and I have had some pups with some big ears!!!   Just look at my avatar. lol

Wow, cool tips! I was always weary of inserting anything into the ear, but they were standing by 7 months usually...but eyelash clue is a great tip! Your dogs look very sweet, Liz....

Two Moons

I would just feed well and let things go the way nature intended.
They will either stand or not depending on the genetics, unless you think there has been an injury.
I can't imagine taping, gluing all that crap to a dogs ears for what amounts to looks.
Breed for better ears.
The dog will be just as great or as bad as it was born to be, give or take who raises and trains it.
I can't believe some of the things people do to their dogs, from taping to dieing fur, I even once heard something about breaking a tail to correct the curve.
The supplements and holistic cures, I dunno.
Maybe it makes people think they are doing more but I see it all as fake and gimmick that does more for the person than the dog.
Sometimes they go too far in my opinion.

Give it time, love him for what he is, not what he is not.

lol Two Moons.... I was not going to say that as I didn't want to get in a long debate on better breeding...heheh from some of the last blogs going..

I do believe in some cases some minor help is ok, but yes we should breed for better ears!

I know some breeds have ears cropped and taping is part of that, I just hate to see it on a GSD.

This would not stop the dog from working or living a full useful life.

As for show, it's cheating the breed to cosmetically alter the dog when it's genetics are supposed to be whats being judged.

i had a pup that , took almost 8 months for the one  ear   to go up, but it did go up.  and now she is 5 years and they  have been fine.

give that puppy a meaty bone to chew, a beef knuckle bone, or a rib bone, somehting to chew and mess with for a long time. that should help.

Try feeding him raw meaty bones.  Chicken leg quarters are great.  Don't cook the bones.

There is a tendon that goes from under the jaw to the ears.  Food that really gives his jaw a workout and nutritionally what is provided by the raw bone can sometimes work miracles.

Good Luck with your sweet pup,

Michele

Seems to me way to much taping, gluing, etc. is going on in the GSD breed.
Maybe people should leave them alone and not breed the ones that throw floppy, heavy ears.
