Hello, any news about Nero Nobachtal ? Is he still banned ? What about his progeny group, is they also banned for breeding and showing ?

by Barny on 04 November 2004 - 11:11

YES, to all.

Has anybody found out what the exact surgery is that Nero had? Do we know yet if it's genetic? A friend of a friend in Germany says that we have not heard the last of this. Any thoughts?

by Barny on 04 November 2004 - 16:11

They say it was elbow surgery. I think this story is finished.

The breed prohibition for Nero and descendants applies only in Germany.

Any GSD association working under SV rules would apply it in their country too, or maybe not?

Does anybody have the fallowing UPDATED report from SV about Nero? Im sure it was posted on the SV magazine and hope that anybody with a membership can scan out the article for us to read.

Barny, For an outsider this is very confusing. But if you look at the USA Siegershow results, there were 3 Nero puppies entered and shown. One received VP4 and the others a G rating. Sunshine

Howdy..... as you all probably know by now, there is not a single word about Nero in the December issue of the SV issue. I wrote it before and i will say it again.... If they stick with their own rules, all progeny of Nero born AFTER the surgery will loose their right to be breed with. All the progeny that was born BEFORE the operation will have all the proper paperwork and will be allowed within the breed. This is the way problems were handlet in the past. This is the way it is written in the breeding regulations of the SV. E N D OF S T O R Y I would warn everybody to breed their dog, if it was born after the surgery was performed. Standings now are, that you will not receive proper paperwork. Also, i do not expect to hear anything about Nero too soon, because i believe they are still trying to sort the mess out. I do feel sorry for all breeders that tried to enhance that bloodline, but you are not the first ones this happend to and you will not be the last ones either. Oh, one more thing : It has absolutly nothing to do with the fact if it was a genetic proplem or not.......it does not matter. I hope my english is good enough, so that i was able to get my point across. I wish everybody a good Year 2005
