MOJO AL QANTARAH'S ALASKAN MALAMUTES
The first Mojo Al Qantarah's bitch was a grey wolf, by pedigree name Dafne, but called Astrid by us. Born in 1991 from an old European bloodline "Cold Valley", on 1996 she was bred with BIS Ch. CV Etna Quemuski Of Alyeshka Anoke, Cold Valley's bloodline as well and so, on January 1997, a puppy bitch called Zoe was born, becoming our foundation bitch, mother of several champions such as European Champion, Italian Champion, International Champion, Europasieger '07, Bundessieger '07, Belgian Champion and Stud Champion whose name was and is Alcantara El Lado Oscuro De La Luna (Taku) born in 2001.
In 1999, in the amateur kennel owned by our friend Alfredo Silviani (Cascio), Ch. Racconto d'Inverno (Dante) was born who became Spanish Champion, International Champion, Chilean Champion, Argentinian Champion, Champion De Las America y El Caribe and Stud Champion. He was bred with Zoe twice and in one of these two litters were the Multi Ch. AQ Princess Ginevra (Prissy) AQ Anna Karenina (Anna), a red bitch who remained with us, and Alcantara Fata Morgana (Nina).
Among the bloodlines we had use of, Cold Valley is the main one.
In 2000 the first dog we imported was from Spain, but unfortunately we couldn't use him in our breeding program, his name was Alcantara De Soto De RioFrio (Ciro), son of the famous champion Storm Kloud's The Legend Continues.
After 5 years, in 2005, from Canada we imported Silverdream's Sunshine Sparkle (Gretha) and Silverdream's Absolut Legacy (Joint), Storm Kloud's old style dogs and from USA was imported Kasaan's Al Qantarah Set'N Stone (Daisy). Therefore our Cold Valley's bloodline dogs were bred with Storm Kloud's bloodline dogs.
In 2008 arrived from Canada another wonderful bitch Silverdream's N'AQ Friendly (Lilith), from Spain arrived also Atenea De Correcaminos of Storm Kloud's line too, given us as a present by our friend Javier Cobello (Zulem).
At this point Mojo Al Qantarah's is looking for a different bloodline than the Storm Kloud's, in order to get, finally, the sort of dog we consider the result - not definitive, as nobody should give up trying new miscegenations, but to manage and get a dog which should be correct for our opinion and so, at the end of this year, from USA will arrive a male called AspenMyst Šar Kiššati and a female called Seeka's Dreaming Is Beleieving.
In 2005 we received the affix (our official kennel name). We wished we would have been allowed for "Al Qantarah's" but FCI didn't approve it; there is a place in Sicily where nature is still unpolluted. The name is Gole dell'Alcantara (Alcantara's Narrows), a small Canyon dug by the Alcantara River, once written "Al Qantarah", a clear and very cold river. We think it's one of the most attractive places in Sicily. That's why we had decided to dedicate our kennel name to it. Mojo is a small extinct volcano where Alcantara River flows out from: Mojo Al Qantarah's.
In 2009 Mojo Al Qantarah's join itself with Cold River's Kennel, union that it's born from a great friendship but, above all, from a similar vision almost of this breed. We wish that from this union we can do still better for the future and to contribute to the improvement of this breed that we viscerally love.
