I saw that fall. Horse rolled three times, jock managed to keep out from under him. Very fortunate no serious injuries.

Not a big fan of horse racing. Have a good friend who was a vet for a particular stable and left because he could no longer deal with the care and treatment expectation of the owners of the horses. Shots to help with pain, shots to stop hormonal cycles, shots to help with temperament, shots to help with the side effects of the shots, shots to help with.... well you get the idea. Some horses received 20+ shots a day and they hated being handled. Many of the horses received an average of 10 a day and also hated being handled. Horses equated people with pain from needles and such. A couple other friends were trainers and got out because they could no longer handle the treatment of the horses (some of the stables or horses would surprise you). Some of the stables would breed and then allow the top 5 to be trained, the rest were humanely euthanized. To euthanized a foal because it was not a money maker and no wanting that foal to get out into the public and show that the breeding program was not perfect was sad. The manner that many of the jockeys were treated was also a source of sadness for my friends. Sad that something that was designed to showcase breeding and ability has been sullied by greed and failure to see horses as living breathing beings.........
