For the record, I think Obama should follow his duty as he did, and make his choice for nominee to the Supreme Court. I don't think "waiting" for the election is fair, that is an obvious unfair moving of the "line" of responsibility, and I just don't like changing rules to anything, once the game has started. Not that government should be a game, but it is phrase of speech and metaphor I enjoy using, so don't get hung up on that.
I am just starting to become familiar with the nominee, Merrick Garland, myself, and think Obama made a rather intelligent maneuver, however one takes a position on the political aisle.
I hope the Republican's don't use obstructionist tactics for the sake of their politics but do give the nominee correct due diligence. I heard he's rather "milquetoast, and non-controversial" so, maybe save us citizen's all a pointless, battle of wills and if he's deemed qualified, then do the right thing, and approve him.

Of course the republicans are going to obstruct. They have been now for 6 years. It is Obama's constitutional duty to nominate someone and it is congresses constitutional duty to hold hearing and confirm. Lets see if they do it. I am very skeptical to say the least. And you are right - it was a very smart choice and it somewhat backs the republicans into a corner, after they have said over and over they will not even hold confirmation hearing. Alas, the whole while claiming they are all for the constitution. This will play heavy in the next election and if Hillary or Bernie win they (the republicans) will have a real problem because 2 more justices are not going to make it another 5 years. The republicans are fools. BTW, I just found out recently that the health insurance mandate was a republican idea and they have fought against their own idea since the day it was included. FOOLS.

Here you go, the obstruction goes on. Nothing in the constitution backs this. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/gop-senators-break-emergency-glass-on-trump-plans-220926
