Can anyone please suggest a good method to train the dumbell retreive for IPO?

There's more than one way. Depends on the dog you're training as to what method is best suited for that particular dog.

As Joanro said there are several different methods.
I personally use the Ivan Balabanov method. He has a DVD out called "The Retrieve". I have used this method with multiple dogs and have had great results.
