Hundmutter

Looks as if he's being pretty serious in that video, Pete, [but his tails

still going a bit !].

BTW gotta say this:  I'm admiring your bravery in putting up 'warts n

all' training vids,  unlike the majority of polished displays of finished

competition-worthy dogs and prof. decoys that we mostly get.

Nowt wrong with the latter, [we need to see those as well], but it seems

not everyone will share their less positive moments.

Your boy's targeting is definitely improving, and I second Hundmutter's observation re your candidness in posting these early-stage videos for everyone to have a go at.  Also have to commend you on your openness to the suggestions received, as well as utilizing those that are applicable to your situation, your dog and your needs from him. Likewise, respect to the decoy, too, as he's also going to get critiqued, but appears to be open to constructive criticism and suggestion as well--there is definite improvement in his technique from the first clips of him working your dog and this one.  I may have to unpack a sleeve and try to get a clip of my 5 yr old WGSL bitch shot--she hasn't even seen a sleeve, or a tug for that matter, since I brought her home as a 9 month old--just to give you something you can pick apart, in the name of fairness.

And yes, this time I AM flirting with you a little. I like smart & savvy, and since you're on the other side of the world, it's beyond harmless anyway. Wink Smile

thanks, TBH many of the finished dog corporate style vids leave me a bit cold. i think susie once mentioned that europeans only make videos when they are trying to sell the dog. as inspirational as it is to see the BSP podium peformance the dogs essentially all look much the same to me because every trainer is trying to achieve the same look presicely.

few of us have the decoys that got the dogs you see on the BSP podium to that point, nor do we have the TD's, the support teams, the time or the money, and we are not going to flip dog after dog to get there .... excuses perhaps or a just different way to own and enjoy our dogs.

hexe of course you are flirting, i mean you see this, what else could you do ....you are only human, i understand my awesomeness can be overwhelming to the gals..

So much fun seeing a Dog...Handler and Decoy/Helper Training and showing the progress of each...No dog is perfect and as Handlers and Decoys we all start somewhere and hopefully we get better...The important thing is to keep an open mind and to be able to accept criticism...Part of that is to Have Fun...Enjoy the Bond between Dog & Handler and to grow...Learn from everyone...When and Where possible...

Good Job and keep the videos coming...Love to see them...

Vk, it´s always refreshing to take a look at your vids-you are right-over here we don´t tend to make videos during training-you are only able to see positive videos, made for  announcements ( sales or breeding). Nobody will video a "dog in progress"-too much competition and too much money might be lost...
Only on "official events" like the BSP or the BSZS you are able to see the "real deal"-and even in this case it´s only the result of intense training, not the beginning.

Any unfavorable German video you are able to see online was either made by 3. persons or by fools not knowing anything about working dogs.
Good? Bad? I don´t know - I met a lot of dogs who started as "loosers" and ended up as "winners".
Genetics? Training? Who knows (besides the handler and the decoy)....

Forgot to mention that I still like your dog ( liked him from the beginning, when all the profs laughed about you-do you remember?)
There is a difference between a good dog and good training - you own a good dog, and you are trying to better the training day after day without professional help, but most important - you like your dog, and you don´t think about money you might "earn" with him Thumbs Up

"and you don´t think about money you might "earn" with him"

eeerm, give me $500 and cook me a month worth of good traditional german meals i can re-heat in the micro-wave and he is yours.

if the cash is a problem then i will settle for the home cooked meals.

Send the dog to me and I'lls end you home cooked meals with desserts.

I thinks its great seeing raw training videos like this, with the polished videos sure the dogs look great but sometimes you can wonder what the dog is really like.

Sent you a pm VK.
