Update on Mike West
Some of you may have seen the reference in the recent WDA Hundegram that Mike West is no longer a SVF judge. As stated in the Hundegram “On December 3, 2014, the SV removed Mike West as an SVF Judge. His removal was based on the following reasons: (1) Mike West was no longer a WDA Judge; (2) Mike West was no longer a WDA Member; and (3) Membership in the WDA, the “WUSV Club” that sponsored him for his SVF license, is a prerequisite to be an SV Foreign Judge.”
That statement is incorrect. The reason that Mike West is no longer an SVF judge is that in July of 2014 Mike turned 70 years old. As is the rule for all SV/SVF Judges, once they reach the age of 70 they can no longer be an SV/SVF Judge. So while it is true that Mike is no longer an SVF judge, it is important that the truthful reason be made known.
On the GSDCA Members only section of their website, under “Important” in the left hand menu, you will find the original document from the SV sent to Mike West, a letter from GSDCA President Frank Fasano to the SV, and a letter in reply stating the reason why Mike can no longer be an SVF judge. Here is an excerpt from the letter from the SV.
“In his assignment as a SV-Foreign judge Mr. West is subject to the SV-Judge Regulations. According to those guidelines the assignment of a SV-judge ends by the end of the calendar year in which the judge turns 70 years old; this means December 31 at the latest.
According to our records Mr. West turned 70 years old on July 31, 2014 to the effect that his assignment as SV-recognized judge ended on December 31, 2014.”

If I'm not mistaken, he still could become a WUSV judge, which has no age limit, correct?

Yes Hexe, if Mike should choose to he could apply to become a WUSV Trial Judge.

That's what I thought. 
Would kinda like to see him do it, too, if for no other reason than the satisfaction of putting an even finer point on the facts which so clearly contradict the bubbemeister published in that Hundegram...

No matter what his age, the WDA was able to get Mr West removed as an SVF judge because he no longer belonged to the WDA. Age played no factor in his removal, it did play a factor when the GSDCA tried to get him reinstated. The Hundegram was technically correct.
