Anyone care to share tips on ring training a young pup? How do you keep it fun for the pups? How about gaiting? New pup coming in is 8 weeks, but I'd like to start now for show ring prep and getting used to everything. Will try and find a few SV shows as they pop up around here.

what I do to keep it fun for my dogs when I am starting to show train them, I just keep it short and fun.
Usually I try and find there best toy before starting and using it after each session. That way they always look forward to ring training because it ends in such a fun way.
Also i start to teach them to stack at 4 weeks so that is nothing new for them when I go further in my training.

I did not know that pups as young as 3 months could be shown, but this handler seems to have some tricks to keep this puppy happy & presentable to the judge and he wins his class as well. That is some collar and I bet it will be a while before the puppy grows into it.

Everyone may make ring in bigger park or in garden and start trainig young dog. I think training may start with 3 mounth. If we see what k9 are doing with puppies which one have 2 mounth then i am in right :)

vk4gsd, who is your post aimed at? It doesn't make sense to me.
Thanks everyone for the tips. Much appreciated, especially the video :-)

Ramage, i think if you training with dog that can be fun and like game. So I dont understand why you think if you learn your dog something good, that is not good for him/her? Training must be game but game where are you leader and that is very fun. I saw many dresser how want of his dog to be No 1 but that is not possible, i mean they training with his dog so hard, so hard, so hard and his dog start to be nervouse and i think that peaople is little crazy. I think you learn your dog and he will be what he be. Training is game with dog.
