I always thought Dingo was the best trotter til I saw Uran's trot, watch till the end, I promise you you won't regret it. Enjoy

After watching that video, I now know that after 1990 what has been done to the GSD is wrong. Uran is the GSD our standard describes. Uran needed a little bit more length to front upper arm & a little more angle to the shoulder but otherwise he is the "GSD standard". Temperament, drives, intelligence, agility, size, angulations,............, he had it all in one dog. Wow what a dog !!!!!!!!!!!

Ibrahim:   ;Thanks for posting that, as I am of course, prejudiced as Uran was the grand sire of my Bear Jerome,

 http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=499067-bear-jerome

BEAR was powerhouse and the owner of Kanto would not ever release a picture of BEARS sire so I only have Uran to base my guess as to what Kanto did..and looked like.

Long story but that is ok...Bear was all I needed and Adrian Ledda had a hand on him several times and I was pleased with his life and the two litters I raised from him.

Thanks , Yes, Uran had a lot to be desired.

Ibrahim,

Thank you for posting this.  Believe it or not, I watched the entire thing.   It made me think of the Disney show on TV as a kid somewhat.  It was very picaresque and calming.  You don't see these qualities on TV anymore. As for Uran, he seems well rounded and beautiful.

Post 1990s what happened that you reference?  I don't pay attention to show line dogs.

Thanks,

How does Niño stack up against Uran?

I am laughing Bravol...I use to say same thing...but when I looked and researched my pedigrees from Cadett v BuseckerSchloss/Zilla v Weithurchen and some of my other Steinig Tal foundation dogs pedigree, I quit saying  showlines... URAN  and some of the dogs in our old pedigrees called west german showlines were exemplemary in work ethics...my pedigrees were filled with v and va so called showlines.>

I quit making that statement as I embarrassed myself before I studied the power of the older lines...but today   I will say showlines..lol

Super video, Ibrahim, TYVM  for posting that !

Uran was a great all-round dog, and its easy to see why he was

a [German] double Sieger (84 & 85).  And an Italian Sieger.

As YR's post implies, Uran is behind many good dogs today.

Unfortunately he was possibly used too much at stud, as are most

'flavour of the month' dogs, and his overall progeny record (inc. grand-get

and beyond) leaves a bit to be desired.  Of course these results are as

much dependent on both the 'luck of the draw' and the quality of all bitches

put to him, as on the dog himself.  (Again, as with all Flavour of the Month

studs.)  But he has been connected with:   dwarfism ;  blues ; some weakness

in ears / forechest / croups, and pasterns.  His half brother and the following

year Sieger, Quando Armenius, produced better male offspring (w / stronger sex

characteristics).

My Taz is very much line-bred on Uran;   although he does not have

a hinged topline or cow hocks,  the couple of physical conformation

problems many people condemn in "today's" GSD,  ( as though they were

all like that, ), as I have mentioned before, while healthy he does have several

other faults.  EG he's too tall, he's overshot.  The rest of Taz's pedigree is

full of other very good, titled dogs (including two more Double Siegers)  - so

it isn't a case of  one excellent stud in a page full of rubbish !   But still he got

unlucky.   So I guess Uran is probably just as much responsible AND just as

much not responsible at all, for the way the breed is today.
