Hi, I saw a post from a while back saying how an akita x husky is a bad breed to have, as they are "naturally aggresive" and "hard to train."
If you actually believe this it is because YOU are not a good enough trainer.
Saying a dog is vicious because of it's breed is like saying all people are vicious because guareenteed somewhere down the line your ancesters killed someone, stole things. ect.
I have one of these puppies myself, she is in so way aggresive at all!
She plays just like other dogs, and at 7 months has never even snapped at someone. She welcomes all people into our house and love children as they play with her. The closest she has come to biting someone was licking them to fast.
She already does the comands; Come, Sit, Wait, Hi five, Growl, Stop, Down, Over, Up, Turn around(when on her back legs), slower/faster(when walking), find, gentle and of course yes.
If YOU are unable to teach YOUR dog maybe YOU are the problem. The only time she has growled without being told to was when she was getting her privates sown up, which I am sure none of you would like done either. Even check ups without me there I hear about how great she is. Even playing with her toy to get treats out she licks it instead of biting and shaking it around like most dogs would. So I would like someone to explain to me how my dog because of her breed is a vious killer? I think the most vious thing she has done is accidnetly headbut me while jumping on my lap as I let her sit on my lap.
I think the post going on about how they are bad breeds should be taken down as they are not bad breeds, it is YOU who is responsible to train them and obviously do not do a good job.
Because of posts such as that I am not allowed to walk my dog with a group of dog walkers as she may "bite a dog or person". She has never biten dogs or people and she has met and played with at least 9 different dogs of different breeds and sizes without once getting aggresive.
Look after your dogs right and they will look after you and do the right thing. If you treat them badly they may get vious. But that is how YOU look after them, not their breed.

W-a-i-t- a moment ! Please ! While I, for one, have no wish to condemn all
dogs of ANY breed or cross-breed as vicious, and to some extent agree with
you, Sveall, that bad training mostly creates bad dogs, if you are going to join
in PDB and the first thing you post is a generalised 'attack' like the above, then
you need to be prepared to consider some things:
There IS a genetic component to temperament. There are dogs who are
nervous-sharp, because they are the product of nervous and/or sharp parents
who some fool decided was still ok to breed with. Fact. There are dogs who
have inherited temperamental characteristics from generations of breeding who
display various issues which are perfectly suitable for their breed's original
purpose, but which fit very badly into a modern 'pet' home situation. Fact.
Possibly whoever wrote the post about this particular mix you complain of was
thinking along those lines. I don't see the Akita x Husky idea as a particularly
good one, myself, 'cos I know both breeds can tend to be a bit 'stubborn', which
makes them less of a willing prospect for advanced training & dogsports etc than
some other breeds and mixes. Plus the result will usually be a fairly large dog,
and big dogs have their specific difficulties if things go wrong and they do bite.
All of which is without considering any conflict created in combining breed types and
the original functions for which the breeds were created, which may clash.
Your dog is still a puppy, at 7 months, and puppies are usually very malleable and
friendly. If they are not properly handled and trained is where the problems start to
arise, as they hit 'teenage' and beyond ! I'm sure that your particular dog will be fine,
because you are training her carefully - but can you be sure that her litter siblings
will be the same in their new homes ? [ And if they are not, there goes the reputation
of the mix !]
I spend a lot of time on PDB and read most things people post; but I don't remember
any poster 'going on' about this issue at any length, or degree of insistence. I DO
recall an odd 'passing remark', or three, about possible problems resulting from such
crosses. Perhaps you could post a link to show us the post you are particularly vexed
about ?
To claim that any posts on here have the result that you "are not allowed" to walk your
dog with other dog-walkers is a little exagerated, don't you think ? There are some
issues (mainly to do with bad breeding practises) over which many of us on here wish
we could have more influence ! Sadly it doesn't work like that ...

Because we have dog owners who
work their dogs
breed their dogs
show their dogs
and the 90+% who are pet owners that need to learn.

i don't personally know any of the mentioned cross, but a facebook friend has one, and she seems quite happy with her. we actually became friends because of her profile picture through another group, because i commented on how cute her dog is. i believe all dogs, purebred or mixed, should be judged on a case by case basis. i personally have gsd's and chihuahuas. people say negative things about chihuahuas mostly out of ignorance. i believe it's a good idea to educate people by being accompanied by a well behaved dog. seeing is believing.

This poster JOINED to RANT- there was no question, nothing here that prompted it (that was linked to, anyway). They just were ranting about something they don't understand and therefore don't like and were just passing by. Hence, my question. Note that the OP hasn't even returned to the thread. It was a one-way conversation.

I also think some of the replies - including mine,
obviously ! - might have been of help, either in
specific relation to this crossbreed or in general
terms about both canines and the PDB, to other
casual 'lurkers'. Therefore don't consider the few
minutes it took me to type the above in 'wasted'.
