Okay, I can understand black cats not being adopted as quickly as other colours. (I've always made it my duty to help out with THAT. Most of the cats I've had have been black.)
But prejudice against black dogs???
And they are actually shipping these dogs BY AIR to Vancouver Island to find them new homes??

Edit: oops, I posted this in the wrong forum! Mods, can you please move it to the Rescue forum? Thank you!

Oh yesss ... Battersea Dogs Home (for just one well known
rescue centre) has realised this factor for some years. A
behaviourist friend of mine was supposed to be working on a
paper about the problem, but she said she would send me a
questionnaire and hasn't, yet. Maybe if she ever gets it done
there will be some more light thrown on the reasons for it ?
A number of the monthly dog magazines over here have carried
features on the issue.
Hard to know exactly why. May be a clue in another very
GSD oriented friend who has always said she doesn't much
like all-Black Shepherds, because she finds it hard to read
their facial expressions. I never really understood this, and
'get it' even less now I have lived with (and adored) a black
GSD.

Ive known this for years when I got into Aussies and had a black one. Was told right up front not to ever expect to win in the show ring. And I never did. The dog did title in obedience and I was doing stock dog work with him.

@Bhaugh- I've had friends who've owned/shown Aussies for years, and they've never had trouble getting their black tri's finished in AKC?
