So I usually stick to the working side of things as I know working lines are not built like show lines and the best I could do was a free standing picture but curiosity has overwhelmed embarassment for my camera skills.

Free standing, working line male, birth date is 9/3/2009.  IPO 1  Half WGWL and Half Czech.  I don't know if anyone can tell anything from the picture but ... thoughts? Regular Smile

The picture does not help in evaluating certain elements such as
Head planes
Head proportions
Stop
Earset
Shoulder lay &
Shoulder angle
So I won't comment on the above, but to do the dog justice in regards to front angulation I must say that the front chest development is very good which suggests at least a good shoulder angle.
A dark medium size sable GSD male of good type and good secondary characteristics. Substantial, dry, rich pigment, good proportions and notable balance between front and hind angulations.
A strong neck but of less dryness compared to the rest of his body, a notable high long withers, a short strong straight back, loin should be a bit shorter, good croup lay of sufficient length, good tail and tailset, good hind angulation, a notable thigh, good hocks and feet. Good underline, good straight fore legs, good strong pasterns and tight feet, very good fore chest development, allover a dog of notable male type and expression.

Thank you Ibrahim, I was hoping to hear your analysis.

This is the best picture I have of his head on camera at the moment

May I ask what you mean by 'dryness'?  Does that refer to pigmentation across the coat?

by Ibrahim on 26 October 2012 - 20:10

Dry, is a description of a dog who has tight skin on the body, contrary to loose skin.
In second picture stop is very good, head is dome free, wide skull, good proportions, still can't comment on earset and planes but I don't see anything out of order. He's all male.

Personally I really like him;  beautiful color, nice shiney coat with good weight, last rib or second to the last rib showing, could be stretched out more so topline looks better as far back that his hock is still perpendicular to ground;  looks like a very sweet expression with nice earset;  nice bone; front is too far forward so can't tell but looks like nice shoulder angulation; personally I feel he could use a little more angulation in the rear but that is my personal preference and not necessarily a requirement as long as the dog is balanced and structurally sound, nice feet; topline could look better if stacked further back in rear nice tailset and croup OK.  Overall nice boy however, I do not feel he is done maturing and will be more spectacular in another year.  It is best when getting a conformation evaluation to use a fine choke chain so the neck can be seen.  I think his length of neck is probably OK but I really cannot tell from this pic.  Am curious as to what his pedigree is, can you post?  Thx  Nan

PS:  This boy looks like he could work hard for a long period of time and for a lot of years ahead,  good luck with him.  N

Ibrahim,

Thank you for the explanation!  Nice to learn something new. Teeth Smile

Nans,

Thank you!  I wish I could properly stack him but I have never been shown how to stack a dog and when I tried for these pictures he was not feeling overly cooperative so I went with the free standing.   I agree, it would be interesting to see him properly stacked, I don't know that it would address the faults you were mentioning but it would still be interesting!!

Here is his pedigree. Regular Smile

Thanks for the pedigree, personally I would just try to walk him into the stack then let someone else take the pic's.    That usually works better than trying to mess with setting up his feet, etc.  Some do not like to be messed with.  BOL  with him, Nan
