(CBS 5) – Smoking cigarettes is the cause of so much preventable, deadly disease. But now new research shows sitting for long stretches of time may be just as dangerous.
“Smoking certainly is a major cardiovascular risk factor and sitting can be equivalent in many cases,” explained Dr. David Coven, cardiologist with St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York.
Dr. Coven said several new studies show prolonged sitting is now being linked to increased risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer, and even early death................................

interesting factoid.......
Hitler hated smoking. He called it 'the wrath of the Red Man against the White man, vengeance for having been given hard liquor.' The Nazis were among the first to ban smoking in many public places, including on trams and buses and in Nazi party premises. Just like modern day California, really."

Hi I'm Scarlet Akai, and I am A SMOKING NAZI!!!!
I don't live in cali but I sure as hell wish their non smoking rules applied elsewhere.....
Honestly I don't really care if anyone chooses smokes, In my mind it's anyones right to slowly trade off whatever kind of enjoyment they get from it for time off of THEIR OWN life. If you smoke 8 packs a day... (i pity your lungs, but) more power to ya.
I just ABSOLUTELY DESPISE RUDE SMOKERS!!! The kind that always stand right by the main entry way to a building, or walk down busy sidewalks etc and puff away. Believe it or not some people have severe reactions from cigarette smoke. I used to know a girl whose has to spend her entire life afraid to leave the house because her throat starts closing the moment she smells it. She tries her best to only stick to smoking prohibited areas, but those are too often poorly enforced. I personally get nauseous and start forming a headache if I smell it for more than 5 seconds and let's be honest the stuff genuinely REEKS.
Not to mention all those who just toss their nasty cigarette butts the ground with out a second thought ESPECIALLY when the trash can was 2 feet away. I love going to a park or even just travelling down the street and seeing nothing but nasty cigarette remains.

I also despise parent's who don't care about their children enough to smoke outside and away from them. It's definitely not cute or fun having to resusitate a child with a non-existant airway due to the asthma their parents gave them.

Hitler was a psychopath who should have been double tapped before he ever stepped foot in politics, that said it doesn't mean all his thoughts and ideas were bad. He did like German Shepherds after all.
Okay phew I'm done with my smoking rant ... at least for now

But on the flip side, there has to be some common sense by lawmakers for say, establishments where smoking might go hand in hand with their business to either keep the business in the plus so the business doesn't fold. Restaurants, bars etc.; etc. With all this technology you think they would build (I'll call them "clean/refresh" rooms) at these establishments. High ? reduction fans to lift the smoke up and away out of this room. And definately have the smoking/non-smoking rooms seperated. You know where you enter say a two or three door system so by the time you do exit in the opposite room there is no residual anything coming with/off you.
