 True Funny Story….

So I have not been getting much sleep with moving and all the cr@p that goes along with it…day before yesterday after work and softball practice, we had to move queen size bed into spare bedroom and organize the room..by the time I got to bed it was passed 11pm.
So last night I had every intention to get to bed by 8:30pm, never happened, so at 11 pm I am crawling into bed, its pouring rain outside, windy, i must have fallen asleep but was woken up by blinds hitting the window due to wind…I got up,  it was 1:22am, pulled blinds up and went back to bed, so curtain on that window kept getting sucked to the window screen and it sounded like a suction cup, so I closed the bedroom window and went to the living room and opened a window there…laid back down, I was feeling myself drifting off when bathroom door of the master bedroom slammed shut (door was on my side of the bed and only 6 feet from me)…god, that skyrocketed my heart rate and I sat straight up…after cursing for a few minutes I finally calmed down and must have fallen asleep when a strange noise which kept altering my dreams into weird world brought me back to reality..one of my cats was in a cat litter digging…(the thing about my cats, my male cat likes to bring all of the cat litter to the front of the litter box so he can sit with his head sticking out…my female cat hates having urine and cr@p by the edge of the cat litter where she has to step..so she always transfers all 30 pounds of cat litter to the very back) anyway, one of them was digging and digging and digging…I finally loud whispered “Oscar, get out” he meowed back and I heard him jump out….so I looked at my phone…2 f*cking 35am….i turned over and tried falling asleep..i was able to hear one of the cat eating and crunching on the food…and I must have dozed off…when I heard the digging again…and digging, and digging and I can hear cat litter hitting the side of the box and I knew it was Emily…she was relocating cat litter back to the back of the box..I waited and waited I looked at the clock 3:15, 3:21, 3:35 i could not take it anymore, I sat up and Yelled at the top of my lungs “ SH*T ALREADY!” at which point my husband jumped up trying to figure out what was going on…”who?., what  sH*t?....I had to bite my lip so I would not laugh…lets just say he was not amused as I was….so I did not get any sleep….took me a while to explain to half awake man why I was telling his cat to sh*t….

LOL I think you need a bigger house.

its more of a bad layout....master bedroom is build along side of the garage,  between garage and master bedroom there is walk in closet which is back to back with laundry room where cat litter is,  so its 10-12 feet outside of the master bedroom around the corner (but obviously door is open because cats need to be able to get into it) and with all being tile it does not stop the sound from traveling and paper thin inner walls do not help either....kitchen where cat food is on the other side of the master bedroom...this way it separates master bedroom completely from the rest of the house...which is good because if i go to bed i do not hear living room TV, nor family room, or two other bedrooms...where visitors may stay, but i do hear fridge making ice...so icemaker is off during night...

The GOOD thing is:  this is a rental house and we will use it until our house sells and we can purchase bigger house with some acrage.....we tried selling our house last year but it's impossible with 3 dogs trying to break through the kennel to save the house from strangers, even our realtor was uneasy about the whole arrangement..

And this is exactly when I am glad I am totally deaf in one ear! I can sleep anywhere...sorry LF, I'm sure everything will start to even out. I think I am always hyper intuned to a new surrounding at first, but then when it becomes "yours" the filters kick in. Too funny about hubby, LOL

Those type of nights are awful and they generally happen when you're already exhausted

we have 2 cats and my wifes cat is a meanee. prince, almost like clockwork, wakes me,not my wife, up betneen 5:30 and 6 90% of the mornings.
we don't have litter boxes as our cats are trained to go outside, and they do. he eats and then back up to let him out.
my cat, boots, is still sawing logs at the foot of the bed. my wife never missing a stroke either.
ladyfrost maby you should  think about a kitty door in you room with the kitty litter.

sable you may be right....but i am waiting for ridgeback/ boxer (Frankie) dog to be picked up by her owner, her OB training is going well so we are expecting for her to be picked by at the end of May...and than Emily (cat) will be back to being outside cat during night...Frankie is doing much better at not chasing a cat while we are present..actually she ignores it completely, but we still do not trust her at night and my husband refuses to use his cat as a Guinea pig...LOL...so that should help things tremendously...
