dragonfry

I've been bitten with muzzles before, though not this style. The open ended types have gotten me injured when dogs have gotten their little front teeth into my flesh. But not the canines. Still takes more skill to feed through a muzzle. Which reminds me of my friends lab/border collie mix from hell. She was a poop eater, so they tried a basket muzzle to curb her bad habit. But crafty bitch she was she quickly figured out that if she crammed her muzzle into the pile she could still eat crap. I never trusted my safety to a muzzle but they do reduce injury.  I've also tried a head halter with one of my dogs and people asked why i had her muzzled? So i would crank her mouth open to show it's not a muzzle and she could clearly still bite. (Not that Ivy ever would because she loved people!)
Still this "trainer" is a weirdo

Dragonfry, I had a dog like that, too. She didn't go for poop so much as rotten stuff that had been lying around under the snow all winter. Nearly every spring, she'd make herself sick. She'd also get into the neighbour's garbage if i was ever so stupid as to let her wander off the property. She, too, would cram the muzzle up against whatever it was she wanted to eat. I solved the problem by cutting a piece of plastic to fit the bottom of the muzzle!

Why does it always seem to be the females that eat poop?  Roll eyes

Poop eating = stim on level 60.  Cant abide by it.

The only reason i can figure for females eating poop is the instinct to remove evidence of their puppies from where other predators might smell them. Also my vet says puppy digestion is pretty poor so much of what they are eating for the first few weeks is passing through their underdeveloped systems. Mom gets a boost from cleaning up after them. Most females seem to stop cleaning up once the pups go to solid food and they are better at digesting their intake.
But my female (Ivy) once she started eating poop could not seem to stop. You could see she was clearly confused. She didn't like it but seemed compelled to eat it.
She made the most awful faces. And she never ate any poop until she had pups. Then she could never seem to turn it off. Made the last 9 years of her life rather gross.

Stool eating is a survival characteristic. In the wild, nursing dams consume the stools of their newborns to prevent predators from locating their dens and general whereabouts. . So your stool eaters are actually survival experts Wink Smile.
