Interested in owning my first mal! - Page 1

Met a young guy looking to re-home his 8 month female mal, and fell in love with the dog. According to him he was given the dog by our local sheriff "whom he works for" and just doesn't have time for her anymore. I took a look at her akc certificate and pulled up her pedigree, I found it odd that her nor any siblings from that litter have been registered yet but a previous litter from the same parents has been. Would someone mind taking a look at her pedigree and provide some feedback. He is looking to get "around" $600 for her.

Wondering why in the world he would re-home such a sweet puppy. She is high in drive but nothing unmanageable.

'Why would he 're-home such a sweet puppy?' You ask.
Its called dog flipping. To make a quick 600 bucks, is why he wants to 're-home' her.

He has owned her since she was 4 months, but yeah I suppose that could be the case. I get too attached to my pets to ever do that but I guess some people don't.

I didn't realize he had her since four months. Maybe she didn't turn out to be what expected.

I agree with joanro's post. If the guy got the puppy with a particular goal in mind its real possible that he dosent 'see' what he is wanting to see. That type of a situation is not uncommon. That is pretty much how my wife got her current dog. The breeder kept the dog back from the litter, but within a very short time felt the pup was not a good fit for him so my wife now has a dog and has left my dog alone since :)

Seems to me with a still-young puppy it is a bit early to decide the dog isn't
what he's 'looking for', whatever that may be. It would be interesting to see
whether, once he's found someone to buy this bitch, he immediately gets
another dog he "doesn't have time for". Sheeshh !!!

I went ahead and took her home! Roos is being a great dog and loving her huge new yard. She was confined to a apt balcony while he was working in her last home. She is super excited to have people home most all day, and I love the attention and focus she gives. She drives the tug right back at me when I let her win it every time.

She is awesome!

Your female is out of working dogs - always keep this in mind, and try to find activities both of you like.
Maybe there is a club of any kind in your surrounding.
