Hello,

I was wondering if any of you could help me in confirming that this is indeed a malinois. I am not used to viewing this tan of a color and it makes me question whether there is German Shepherd in him. Gentleman says he is 2yo, does not have papers and wants re homing fee of 500. He has been very upfront with me on all the dogs info but I could use some confirmation. Thank you!

At least part GSD. Rear assembly is especially telling, though there are clues elsewhere.

Thank you oh so much for replying so quickly... I was looking at the confirmation, density of coat comparison, etc. Going crazy. Appreciate the feedback as it confirmed our suspicion. Still like the dog but the re homing fee and marketing as malinois throws me off as I really want a full malinois and possibly thinking of a puppy as I'd like to know his history growing up.

nice looking dog.

$500 is cheap if the dog is healthy and has a decent temperament. if you are not a breeder i wouldn't worry about the mix, if any.

seems like a nice type, i would give him a chance.

It looks like a purebred Malinois to me.

Looks like a shepherd and mal mix. Face is not sharp enough to be mal, ear set is wrong, tail is too thick and fluffy. Body is too corse. For sure a mix but it might make really nice working dog if the drives line up.

Probably a mix .. the ears and tail look more GSD than they should but who knows .. not all Mals look the same  There is an overall lack of sharpness in some features but it is impossible to say .. the feet look right for a Mal.  Lots of KNPV dogs are Mal mixes so not a worry unless you plan to breed and health wise a Mal/GSD mix could be less likely to have hip dysplasia from the GSD side and less likely to have eye problems from the Mal side.  Make sure the dog's hips are good.  If I had to pick Mal or GSD I would pick Mal as surely not pure GSD.  Your dog does not have the GSD type coat on the back of the rear legs so he could be pure Mal .. a link to a GSD/Mal Mix below .. notice the rear legs shape and hair on the back of the legs on a GSD/Mal mix.

I agree with Bubba it is impossible to call. The rear legs and sitting position are imo definitive Mal. However a mal/gsd mix could turnout either way regarding appearance.
