I'd like to see the first one in person, to see if the "saddle" really is solid black like it appears in the photo, or heavy tipping instead.  I'm surprised the second dog wasn't listed as a Dutch Shepherd since it's legs are brindle.  Both dogs are KNPV dogs, which generally means mix breeds.

You can look up a lot of the KNPV pedigrees at http://www.bloedlijnen.nl/  If you look up each of these dogs, they are listed as mix breeds.  The first is listed as "x Mechelse Herder"  and the second actually is listed as a DS Mix on Bloodlines, "x Hollandse Herder", so it's listed incorrectly here on Pedigree Database.

This look does appear in purebred Malinois though, they have some of the same pattern genes to their overlay as GSD, but it's not supposed to be nearly as heavy/dark.  For example this female

You can see her overlay is in a saddle type pattern, but it's not so heavy as to appear to be a saddle.

Compare that to this male.  And I picked this photo on purpose, because the lighting make sit look like he has a solid black saddle

What he really had was heavy black overly.  Instead of 1 out of every 5 or 10 hairs having a black tip, which is the more common overlay in a Malinois, all of his hairs had a black tip, but the bottom of each hair was a red/fawn color.  He rarely produced this heavy of overlay in his offspring, most of them looked like this female.

This is Elgos du Chemin des Plaines, a very frequently used Malinois stud dog in his day.  I'm only marginally familiar with GSD, but maybe comparable to Troll or Pike (two names I do hear a lot).
