I know absolutely nothing about conformation, but wanted to see what folks around here thought of my (a little over) 1.5 year old male. The physical attributes of my dogs have never mattered too much to me, aside from health, but I guess it doesn't hurt to learn :)

Pedigree and a few photos (I should mention, the first two are of him in his "stand" command. No idea how to stack!)

typical working dog structure.  :)  impressive pedigree.  looks like a nice dog & should be able to do ipo with no problem
or real work as well.

Horribly ugly dog.  You can send him my way to ease your poor eyes, as no one should be torched to have to look at that dog every day.  Teeth Smile

Good looking Sable.

I think the top two pics do him no justice,,I would take a few others..

He looks to have nice dark pigment and a masculine head..:)

The beauty of GSD should be derived from his ability to work. It is the beauty of an athlete or a blacksmith.S&S Reliant Blacksmith
It should project, health, stamina, endurance, natural balance, strength, dexterity, purpose in motion and action, confidence,  adequacy in all activity, and  nobility. If your dog reflects these attributes then he has good structure.
You can be the judge of that better then anybody else. He is your dog.

Thanks everyone. He's a great little worker. I know nothing about conformation, but I do know a bit about working ability :) He's maturing very nicely with a great civil edge. As far as a sport dog, there are definitely better, but as far as a PPD, he's great. He has an on/off switch that none of my past dogs have had; makes living in a huge urban environment with a high drive dog much, much easier.

Very handsome;  and YES you are right it does not hurt to broaden your spectrum and learn how to critique conformation and movement.  Let us see him at 3 years old.  Better age to critique.  Good luck  Nan

Not the best picture and not the best stack, difficult to comment on his front angulation, upper arm and shoulder blade placement. Good proportions    of a medium sized male sable colored GSD, good size of head, good high withers, good strong back of good length, slightly short and steep croup, slightly high tailset, good tail, good hind angulation, good strong hocks, good tight feet. Beautiful color and rich pigment, adding that to what Ziegenfarm said, you have a valuable companion, enjoy him.
