geez jenn, you don't need anyone to tell you what a puppy looks like. I didn't comment on the first pic because all I could see was straight back, good wither point. but in these last ones, he is really starting to show some promise (conformation only).

nice angle in the rear, good high wither, straight back and all that other stuff that goes with a dog passing a breed survey.

really can't comment on croup and shoulder without seeing a video of movement. but looks like a nice pup.

you should have taken credit sooner, too late now.Teeth Smile

Love those videos... the bouncy puppy stage is adorable!!! And OMG them ears!!! He's sooooo cute!!!

A very beautiful young boy, beautiful pigment, very good proportions, nice head piece, nice topline and withers, better hind angulation than that of front, also notable eye catching face expression, all is good. I only see a definite short croup otherwise he's perfect.

Jenni, apart from my reluctance to 'critique' from a photo, anytime,
I really wouldn't bother with the 'formal' one for a pup of this age n
stage - tho' all credit to Xeph in particular for a valiant effort !  The
vid of him playing with your Pit lad shows me far more of what I
like seeing in a young puppy.  Sorry if I missed where you answered
this question, but is he too up for sale or do you want to run this one
on for yourself ?  If it was me, I would !  I think he's a 'keeper', subject
to 'the swings & arrows of outrageous Fortune'.

I have seen too many pups of Show stock either improve or come up
wanting by the time they are adults to believe in the idea that some
people can single out what will turn out a great and winning dog when
they are only 4 or 8 or 12 weeks.  When it works out, the breeder or
whoever is a genius with a fantastic eye for a dog;  when it doesn't it
gets quietly forgotten.

Best of luck with this pup.   Good news too re Fuzzy.

LOL @ Rik- I really was just posting these new pics for the sake of posting some updated photos of my grandchildRed Smile...just for the people who like looking at puppy pics. I didn't think new puppy pics  was an  urgent enough topic start a new thread about so I just stuck 'em here. I couldn't take much credit anyway- all I had were photos to choose a few from, along with the breeder's statements on temperament.

Ibrahim, thanks for your opinion.

Hundmutter, I really don't know what I'm doing with him. I'm not in a hurry to sell this guy, but  I would let him go to a great home, especially if it was within easy driving distance so I could watch him grow up and evaluate him thoroughly.  I keep something back from every litter I breed. I try to keep both a male and a female available to me (I don't hoard them all in my home, but I keep them with people who will allow me to monitor them as they mature and evaluate the breeding and if all pans out great, use them in the future). These are my "grand pups" so I was curious about them and there were 12 of them, so I offered to take several to sell and my bonus would be to evaluate them (and my own breeding choices another generation down the road!) and possibly keep one if I just couldn't let him go. They are, after all, Caleb's and Capri's grand pups which makes them kind of special to me. The 4 I had my hands on were very nice temperamentally- very very nice. Conformation varied, though that's to be expected in such an outcross breeding. Honestly, if I wasn't picky about certain things (ok...a lot of things, lol) I could've put them in a box, closed my eyes and picked one and been happy. This pup had the nicest rear and as some have put it "an air of snobbery" which really takes me back to Caleb as a puppy

Short croup was a problem on all of them. The father's croup isn't the greatest, but the dam's tailset is very high and croup poor. Nice front and good movement, though. Above all, fantastic temperament and work ethic. Take the good with the bad, compensate where you can. So, I knew that croups were going to be a weak spot, and tried to eyeball pups who took a bit more after Grandma. He and the fuzzy one were the best. If croups are the biggest problem, I'm ok with that. I think that's an acceptable compromise for super solid temperament and still maintaining an aesthetically pleasing animal.

I'll continue to post new pics here, just for fun, no pressure on anyone to give formal critiques;-).

jenn, you have produced some nice dogs to this point, and it's not just this one. hopefully some of them are in hands that are willing and able to put the finishing touches (title and breed survey)  and prove your direction.

this is a nice pup, and yea the croup is obviously short but looks to be a good angle.

anyway, congrats to you and Capri

Thank you, Rik.

There are a few out there already titled n sport, more doing some other types of work, should be some more accomplishments this year...I'm happy with the first generation....but I really want to see what the second brings, hence my hanging onto this little one for a while. One generation of good dogs isn't worth much if it stops there.

the new photos give a much better idea of the puppy.
LOVE his headpiece!
Nice bone, pasterns look much better in these photos, withers still look good, and nice straight front.
