The only difference of that I know is the particular blends available from the same dog food company. I know that Royal Canin offers more variety in Europe than in the U.S.A., but that is the only dog food company on that I can comment. I just feed what is available in the U.S.A. Surely there are others who can offer a better answer for your question. Bob-O

I like the multiple options available from Royal Canin in Europe the best. We only get a few prepared formulas here. My friends in Germany have bins of all the different components: flocken (grain & vegetables) higher-lower protein, etc., that they custom-mix for each dog according to their condition, life status, work-level, age, etc. Yes, they use additives for some dogs. Here, I worry "adjusting" amounts of vitamens, calcium, etc., largely for fear of upsetting the all-important calcium/phosporous ratio without testing my water regularly for those, and other mineral components, which is a pain in the *@#. I knwo people who have created some very serious problems, especially in puppies, by throwing all kinds of vitamen/mineral additives into gestating bitches & puppies diets, well-meaning, but dangerously ignorant of the tragic consequences. A lot of people swear by the BARF diet, but I worry about that too, as after 100+ years of domestication/selective breeding we are no longer feeding wild canids. There are too many "issues" like exposing the dogs (and one's self!)to unfriendly bacteria, storage issues, and then there can be problems with availability. (What does one do when one is traveling? Do I TRUST the ice chest to keep the raw meat consistently chilled?) I just can't bring myself to hand a dog a raw chicken, bones and all... probably a product of my deep-seated vet-bill-avoidance-mechanism!

I used to feed Happy Dog,when Randy Tyson brought it in. LOVED it. When I lived in Europe, dog was on that as well. Much less expensive over there. Seems as though the formulations for Royal Canin are different here than in Europe. We feed RC over there, but here, no.
