We have a year and a half old Malinois. A lady called a friend of mine who is a police officer and said come get her or I'm taking her to the shelter. My friend David tried her at police work and supposedly didn't do so hot. David then posted her on Facebook advertising she was available for a home. My fiance then sees her and immediately wanted her. So, on December 23rd we added to our family. She's been absolutely wonderful!!! She's got a few bad habits we're working on but other than she's a really great dog.
My question is....Is there ANY way to tell where she came from such as parents or anything of that nature? The woman that had her isn't answering any calls from us or David so we're just stuck. If not then not a huge deal I was just wondering if there was any way of telling where she might have come from.
I'm used to Greyhounds and they have tattoos in their ears so I know exactly where they come from! ha ha Sash (mal) gets PLENTY of exercise with my 3 greyhounds! She can't really keep up be she tries hard! She's also starting in Schutzhund and is doing really well. We're only doing basic obedience as of right now. She was extremely hard headed the first week or so. She also loved to counter surf and and help herself to whatever was there!! lol Anyway, just wanted to share and ask a question. Thanks! :)

Without a tattoo or chip to trace, if the original owner won't answer any phone calls you are probably stuck in terms of finding more out. And there may be a reason they don't want to tell you where she's from, they may have had a contract with the breeder that she has to go back to them if they can't keep her. Not that those contracts are usually enfoceable, most aren't written by people with legal experience, but ...
If you are willing to post where you live, and what the original owner called her, someone might recognize her, but i doubt you'll have any luck here, not a lot of Malinois traffic through this site. There is an email list called Belg-L that has a LOT of Belgian owners on it, you might try signing up for that and asking there.

Maybe you can find Anita Szitas or Edit Revesz or whatever name she is using this week and punch her in the mouth as a favor to all of the people on this board that she has STOLEN money from.

Okay, so she's a bad person.
What does that have to do with me trying to find out where my dog came from???
I'm in Memphis, TN and there was a woman who called a friend of miine who worked in a police dept. She said either come get this dog or I'm taking her to a shelter. Well, my friend went a picked her up and tried her as a police dog and didn't do so hot. So, we took her. I'm not trying to find a breeder or trying to buy. Just wanted to know if there was a way to find out where my dog came from. The above posts really answered my question. So, again what does THIS woman have to do with MY dog?!?!?! Do you know something I don't?!?!?!
