There is no "best", only different.  What is it you are looking for?  What qualifies you to get the best Malinois available?  It seems the "new age" puppy buyer, at least here in the States, wants to make it to the podium at a world championship without any of the work involved.  Guess that's just a product of out society that's obsessed with instant gratification.  I am always fascinated by people who ask for pictures and videos of puppies,,,,,,,,,IT'S A FREAKIN' PUPPY, IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING.  I bet if someone were to keep stats on how many puppies actually make it to the top of the competition world, it would probably be around 1% if not less.  Are you in the top 1% of handlers/trainers?  Let's just start with good genetics, good health, mixed in with some good training and see what you can do.  If you want, there's another post with some guy selling Malinois out of his trunk, are those good enough?

Phil may seem like he is drifting off the question, and probably he is.
However during these times of illumination, many things come
to light. Don't feel like he is picking on you, I know that may be hard
but he is not.  I have a friend that played for the NFL, he told me
Less than 1% of 1% ever make it to the NFL and than only 1%
of them go on to be great football players.
You are on the right tract, first try and find a good dog or puppy
to start with. It is always better to start with something that has
training on it in the beginning. This at least get you past the first
door. But until you train a dog from puppy to podium, you really
have not arrived.

Instant total gratification.............ITG
This really got started back in the 60's and full blown in the 70's

I will give you one good kennel's name if you can tell me what state you live in.
The reason is because this way you can go and see the puppies to make a
choice. In breeding, genetics have a mind of there own, even with the best laid
plans. So you need look at the puppies.  I will need to know if you will be doing
any thing in particular or just a good working dog.

i live in Missouri.Interested in a well bred pup for family pet/protector.Phil,thank you for your reply, not trying to "get to the top", just want a good dog.

This is very funny because you are very close to Phil. And I would
recommend Phil's kennel. You will never find a more qualified
kennel or kennel owner in your area for Malinois.  See what he
is cooking up down there and let us all in on it. He has a double
bred dog off Tom. He has not said anything about. This is a very
good NVBK line.  Phil will get you dialed in as well, he is a very
good trainer. Try to look passed the Bipolar, he is one of the best.

Would you contact someone who would give you a reply like that?

by Jon luc on 03 April 2010 - 00:04

I would, if he does not want you to come to his kennel
I will give you another name . A dog is an important addition to the family.
I would make sure you find something that is right for you.  As far as Phil
is concerned  in my  35 years I have gone to some of the most cantankerous,
bad tempered, crazy people to get very good dogs. Phil is a nice guy
once you get to know him. He is upset over somebody in Calif, he thought you
may be connected. The only thing I can say is those extreme moments of
clarity Phil has, also has a down side. But he snaps back, dogs are his therapy.

I'am very interested in this breed.I live in the country and just want to have a dog that can play with kids and protect your place too.I eventually want to raise and train a pup.I don't even know anyone in,or from California. Thanks for the encouragement though.

What is it me or my friend who is on here??? WHat we bought from an unsuspecting person we made a mistake we arent evil because of that! I can say I have found a AKC registered quality Malinois and will be getting him in the next month..
Or is it the person we bought our pups from hes upset about?? Well I can say that perosn aint gonna quit the Dutchies are next on his list as well as the neo's the mals, the gsd's...He wont quit....Until the city catches him you have to have permits to sell litters there and you can only have one permit and litter a year....I have just found that out...

Kenny,
GK9L is refering to this guy Carlos. He appears
to be Shifty. You have read the other post on him.
