This is one of the nicest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of working. He is the most physically powerful dog I have ever worked. His courage tests are a sight to behold. Here is the first part of our most recent training session. More videos to come shortly.

This is the handler's first schutzhund dog, so he is still learning a lot about handling his dog. He is doing a pretty damn good job considering what a strong dog he owns.

Here is a courage test video. After ten minutes of working this dog, I had to take a breather!

Some of the atributes of a working dog can not be filmed you must actually be on the other side of the sleeve.  I worked a dog 2 weeks ago.  and lets just say he was very very intense.  Not sure that it would have transfered well into a photo or film shoot.  This was a dog that would die before going into avoidance.

I do not like that the dog has no concern with the Helper, what so ever, after he has the arm.
From the short video............I would guess this dog is out of balance, toward prey. Some people strive
for that. Nothing is wrong with this type of training, just not for me.

And in my train of thought, giving the dog a bite for looking away during the guarding,
is rewarding the dog for looking away during the guarding.

Im sure he is a very nice dog. I will look for him on the field.
Thank you for posting the video. Maybe a discussion will start that we may all learn from.

The dog was trained in Germany. I am working on making him a little more serious. I am hitting the dog with the stick for looking away and his response is to bite. He's figuring out that I am a little dangerous and he may be punished for looking away. A few weeks ago he did not look at me at all during the transport. This is coming along nicely.

David,
I like your method, though a cinsideration would be put him on a back tie, when he looks away give him a stick hit and burn him on the bite.  a byproduct of this can be a dog that is a bit dirty, that can be cleaned up though.  Just an idea,  good work

That's a good tip and is what I'm doing with Christopher Smith's Malinois. Chris and I are very in tune with each other though so the timing is effortless. We work a lot of dogs together and Chris is one of the best trainers I know. I think this would be a little much to ask of a first time.handler that I don't have a groove with just yet.

Did he just get the dog? Just curious because he will be 6 in January.
