84/85 Uran vom Wildsteiger Land 86/87 Quando von Arminius 88 Eiko vom Kirschental 89 Iso vom Bergmannshof 90/91 Fanto vom Hirschel 92 Zamb von der Wienerau 93 Jeck von Noricum 94 Kimon van Dan Alhedy’s Hoeve 95 Ulk von Arlett 96 Visum von Arminius 97 Lasso vom Neuen Berg 98/99 Rikkor von Bad Boll 00 Ursus von Batu 01/02 Yasko vom Farbenspiel 03 Bax von der Luisenstrasse 04 Larus von Batu These were the memorable Sieger of the SHZS’s in the last twenty somewhat years. (Congratulations to all their breeders/owners and trainers/handlers.) I was wondering what you all think about these winners. What exactly made them win and leave the others behind? And let’s assume for just one minute, they could all start off in a virtual competition, let’s say a: “Champions League”. How would you rank them? Or if you don’t have the time for that, who would be your all-time favourite? Did these competitors win because they were “better” then last year’s Sieger, or merely because this one did not compete anymore? Or were they indeed closer to the standard? What were their greatest assets to the breed? And what would be your expertise on the overall evolution of the GSD-Sieger? Your ranking and judgment or comments will be highly appreciated. And please remember! Keep it positive! For the sake of this wonderful website we can all enjoy.

I think that jeck was the most perfect dog that i ever see and visum was a fantastica mover

In my opinion the most influential Sieger was Quando v. Arminius. If you look at most of the Siegers, they are from that blood line till today. Uran produced very beautiful females. It is also my opinion that the Sieger closest to the "standard" of the German Shepherd dog was: Fanto v. Hirschel. He was a great mover, he had great anatomy, very good bitework, and super presence in the ring. He was young dog sieger,...2-times World Sieger. Fanto produced very beautiful males and females,...his popularity diminished due to the main reason that he was a black and tan dog. Again.....this is only my opinion. Thank you.

To ad more to the last post................. I also believe that from the last several years,..the Sieger that has had the largest success and impact on our breed is: Yasko v. Farbenspiel. 1999 SG-1 2000 VA-5 2001 VA-1 2002 VA-1 Coming from Sieger parents,....he not only became 2x World Sieger,...he has produced a Sieger himself who possibly will become.... ALSO 2x World Sieger!!!... "Besides the line-up of top VA and high V dogs sired by him......both male and females." again....just an opinion.

When I saw this post, I thought: what an inserting question which can be answered from many different angles. I would like to add mine, which is from someone who lived and grew behind the iron curtain, the Czech Republic. Interestingly enough before the 1989, I don’t remember the division between the working and the show lines, the only important thing to us youngsters attending schutzhund clubs (subsidized by government) was, if we can do the sport and the dog has the desired conformation. Because of that, we admired (or envied) each other dogs that had nicest pedigrees in which some of us had dogs like Uran vom Wildsteiger Land and at the same time Gomo vom Schieferschloß. However, on the end it was the working quality of the dog that mattered. One of the reasons was that a sieger show was something many of us could just very quietly dream of. Yes, there where few kennels that had "somehow" the “beautiful dogs”, particularly kennel Onyx Bohemia, but these were to us breeders we looked up to. In my opinion, everything changed with the poster of a dog that we could, without any harassment from the state authorities, put on the wall of our club, this dog was Eiko vom Kirschental. So, Jantie, this is the one the “all-time favorite” to me.

Does anybody happen to have a Video of Jeck working by any chance? I like Jeck and his son, Visum von Arminius. Visum produced a very nice son, Vitus vom Haus-Farrenkopf Which produced my Bitches Father, Santos von der Burg Botzlar. I like what i see in my bitch... Which im pretty sure has the genes of Jeck, including Aisum and Vitus. Lets not forget on the mothers side on my Zambi... shes the great grand daughter of Karly von Arminius (From the father side) and from the mother VA2 Natz vom Hasenborn. Just do a search on Zambi vom haus barkus and you'll find out what lines shes from.
