Was reading the recent WDA newsletter and noticed that the National Training Director was listed as Gottfried Dildei. When did this happen? Was there an election or just an appointment? Have been a member of WDA for more than 3 years and still don't understand the coming and going of "officers". Can someone shed some light on this subject?

I don't know how Gottfried was appointed (was wondering too) but know Bogden resigned from training director, he was not happy with the way things were progressing.

Grum is correct. Bogdan was not in agreement with some of the things the current WDA officers are trying to do. I’m currently a member of the WDA and I have some concerns over their lack of communication with the membership.

I agree Tuna, It would appear that the WDA officers don't feel that the general membership needs to know what is going on behind the scenes. That is sad.

Tuna, Grum is only half correct. Bogdan was looking to CONTROL (like a dictatorship). The WDA could not let it happen. Maybe the same problem his WDA club is dealing with. Don't know, only heard. But, I do agree that the WDA needs to be more open and honest to the membership about issues such as this.

I have been recently interested in what the GSD WDA is all about. I have started doing Schutzhund as a USA member and would like to also get involved in conformation showing, I know this is all done thru USA also, so i`m trying to find what the purpose of GSD WDA would be and is it to my benefit to be a member and reg a dog with them. Would like to hear any thoughts on it. Thanks

Fred, On paper, both the GSDCA-WDA and the USA exist for the overall good of the GSD. WDA "The German Shepherd Dog Club of America-Working Dog Association, Inc. (GSDCA-WDA) is dedicated to the welfare and betterment of the German Shepherd Dog." USA "We are dedicated to protecting & preserving the German Shepherd Dog's working heritage through Schutzhund (German for "protection dog") training." In reality, I'm beginning to have some serious doubts about the intentions of the current WDA regime. I am not a member of the USA (yet) so I can not comment on their club's agenda. I've been reading this message board for some time and occasionally I see a very simple, yet honest comment, "it's about the dogs".

Thanks Tuna, I guess at this point I`ll stay as a USA member only until I hear any beneifical reason to be both which I don`t have a problem with. I was also a member od DVG wich I found no reason to be a member of due to the lack of clubs and support the org gave. I am wondering if one org hurts the other due to there not being a strong enough combined support needed to stenghen the betterment of the GSD in the United States.

Fred, I have been thinking it would be a good idea to be a member of both the USA and WDA. I have friends in both clubs and would like to compete at a schutzhund trial regardless of what parent club has authorized the event. The WDA does not appear as “user friendly” as the USA, however, they do recognize a USA scorebook. What is your opinion of the USA as a club member?
