Not into a lake, however, at my previous kennel we had a large pool (12'x24'x4') and we used the GoPRo Hero3 to do lots of videos in the pool and play yards. We had made our own dog harness strap which was a little unstable, but I see lots of different models online now so you might get a more steady picture these days. Depending on what shot you're trying to get, it can take many repititions to get the right perspective. They can be a lot of fun. Here is one example. Sorry I can't get it to load correctly, but click on "post".

there have been many posted on YT, mebbe not with go-pro in the title, the viewpoint is actually not that interesting. many have done bite wrok but you do not really see much except sleeve /suit back of dog's head all randomly flying  past the field of view.

same in agility, just not a good angle to shoot a camera from.you see very little, a go-pro on the decoy tho is very nice. also a go pro on a remote control helicopter capturing the dog on video and moving with it is most excellent.

The gopro back mount is good quality , only draw back i have had when we where in the thick bush in extreme heat , the gopro camera got snagged and pulled away from the metal base on the GoPro mount , i bought extra 3M sticky tape for the Gopro , and i cleaned the surface and added extra glue around

The caliber dog products are made in the USA , and i think www.activedogs.com own the Caliber dogs series ... Great products and Good service .. Easy to pay and the goods are sent out quick after one orders .
With the harnesses , the dog is able to climb walls , go onto roofs no problem , Have had no problem with the dogs swimming , in some concrete pipes when it is a little low ,, the gopro camera pushes back but does not come away from the caliber GoPro mount .
The Tactical Harness is cool having the two handles ,, when i lift the dogs they feel no discomfort .

Also the tactical harness has alot of space to add other equipment to the harness , i was thinking a torch mount would be cool ,, then you can move the camera fwd ,, and film in the dark better

Not a lake, but a dock diving competition:

Thanks for inputs, they kinda seem like critter-cam just too much jerky movements coming from being mounted on the dogs back, and as suggested in a post the veiw taken from a steady drone above the dog I,m sure would produce a much steadier detailed less jerky cleaner veiw

This one was filmed with several cameras, (Cut together for the you tube feature) but the one on the dog was filmed at high speead to get slow motion and less jerking around. Nice, plus some ear flapping & underwater action too. ( a steady shot feature would help too)
