You have only had your new pup for a short time..He is not use to changes as  his long plane ride was a jog into the past...so just start the real way all over..Wont take long...I dont trust a doggie door at that age..

he needs reinforcement of the pack leader taking him out and demanding the act be done with praise and reward of you being there.

Latch the empty dog crates closed so going into them isn't an option.  Give him 100% attention, crate him or have him in a fenced area outside when you can't give him 100% attention.  Sometimes bad habits are hard to break...nip this one in the bud right away.  House breaking for a GSD pup happens quickly.  If things do not progress quickly when actively working on house breaking one can also wonder about a urinary tract infection (little less common in male pups).  If you think you need to, follow up with your vet.

We did not call our puppy piddle butt for nothing. Lots of supervision.

Maybe it was just all the excitement.

Maybe he was asking for more attention, or getting even for something....LOL

If he pee'd in all of them maybe he is marking his turf.

If hes sneaky then hes thinking, thats a good sign.

House breaking does take a lot of effort on your part, watching for signals .

Then put him out.

Don't you just love the mess?

Most puppies like to hide their pee in carpet or clothes.  It might have been the doggy smell that attracted him there.  None of us can answer for certain why your puppy pees where he does, we can only give you tips on how to prevent it.  Let him out first thing after a nap, first thing after eating or playing, and have him tethered to you at all times until he is old enough to trust.  It will help with bonding and instead of scolding him for mistakes, you can be on the alert and prevent those mistakes!  Which makes life nicer for all involved. :)

Puppy was loose all day.........and mostly without one on one supervision. there was cooking, cleaning, presents to unwrap, kids to hug..........puppy did amazingly well in all aspects. he mostly played nicely with the smallest of the kids, he only had to be reminded once or twice that the are not chew toys. puppy did great at doing his business outside except for the crates. I found that to be really interesting-that's all.

Now that the family is back home and things are back to normal, I will once again watch him like a hawlk. He's doing such a fine job of walking to the back door and sitting for a moment. Much easier then our other dogs, and at a much younger age.

What is the deal with puppy wanting to swim in the water dish.......grrrrrrrrrrr!

Ah, the water dish!  Mine loves that also!  I can't wait till spring and then she can swim in the river instead.
