Wow,
This has turned out to be very interesting,
her sire has the LC gene, but this is mom's very first breeding.
She is such a smart pup, and my 5th gen. of breeding to dogs that I have trained with & met in person.
Here is a video of Violett on youtube, it was very hard to film her cause she follows closely at my feet, this is her very first time outside playing in the snow, she has started running with the big dogs now, she is 9 weeks old.
She is playing with "Dano's daisey Mae" Daisey, also my 5th gen. of breeding labs.
She's in the database: Violett Von Ryanhaus

Don't get dizzy!

Oh, one last thing, this is a another pup that was fluffy, but turned out regular coat, his name is "Bode" I have to add him to the PDB, here he is at 17 days, & at right 5 weeks >>>then all grown, he is in the middle & and "Theo Von Ryans" big brother is at right "Luger"
Then grown up Bode is in the middle....

I am enjoying Violett very much,
she is a breath of fresh air, this is Violett with my 85 year old mom, we visited her yesterday,
my mom couldn't get over how fluffy Violett was, it looks like mom has her in a choke hold, but
she was just holding her head up, too funny, the pup could care less!

Here is my boy (long coat) at 3.5 months and 19 months showing how his coat developed.

I have a Czech x DDR, and at 8 months I'm still watching his coat change. He was always a fluffy puppy, but even the breed warden wasn't sure what coat type he had. I kept him, for a variety of reasons, even if he did turn out to be a longcoat. He was never particularly feathery along the legs or feet, though he still has feathers on his ears.
Here's a progression of his coat...

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/246936.html -- 4 months
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/240056.html -- 6 months
This month's coat phase is best described as "wire", like my JRT. The guard hairs along his back are particularly coarse, though the fur on the rest of his body is best described as "typical." When I get a decent picture of him, I'll update this.

When viewing our boy (above) at the breeders the first time when 5 weeks old, he wasn't a lot more fluffy than his sister in fact, their coats looked similar however, the breeder told us that our boy was a long coat and his sister who was the other fluffy puppy in the litter was not long coated which turned out to be correct. She (the breeder), told us that a long coat puppy has little tufts of hair at the base of the ears and she showed us the difference. The breeder having 35 years experience raising show line GSD's said she can tell a long coat within a couple of weeks of age???.

Rexy,
Are you saying your boy is a LC, cause he doesn't look like a LC, no feathering on his legs......
Do you have a picture of him standing?
He looks to be a gentle soul, nice warm face

Hi mirasmom,
A couple of posts back on this thread I uploaded a pics of him at 3.5 months and 19 months (standing taken last week).
You can see feathering on his front legs in the standing shot. He's not the longest coat GSD I have seen but according to the breeder, his coat is too long to meet the breed standards???.
He has a beautiful face and is more affectionate, warm and loving than the 4 Golden Retrievers that have shared our lives over the past 26 years who are renowned for their loyal and affectionate temprements. Our boy being our first GSD has everything and more that a Retriever offers, plus he will guard and protect us with his life. He is a truely wonderful animal and companion.
