Karon Melillo dVega

by Karon Melillo dVega on 17 December 2008 - 19:12

hi Mystere.  Thank you for writing.

I purchased my foundation Sire, Ca-Ji's Melillo Reyko, in 1992 from Carol Veitenheimer, Ca-Ji's Shepherds.  and over the next few years i purchased several other dogs for my foundation stock, including Sacajawea vom Haus Peck (whose call name is Isis)     Ca-Ji's Melillo Reyko x Sacajawea vom Haus Peck produced my "A" litter on 12 September 1995 out of which i placed Alexander Reyko von Melillohaus with Deputy Steve Nelson who in 3 years accomplished the full training and multiple titles on Alexander Reyko von Melillohaus and this dog was Deputized with Missoula County Sheriff Department K9 just after his 3rd birthday, the First Missoula County K9 since before 1988.    over the next few years, yes, i was very active in breeding, training and showing German Shepherd Dogs.  I took Select males and Select females from each breeding,  I purchased and acquired many fine dogs and bitches from a variety of excellent German show and working lines.

From my "A" litter, i kept A Gretchen von Melillohaus (littermate and sister to Alexander Reyko von Melillohaus),  and showed her in AKC conformation and obedience trials.  I bred Gretchen to Quax von Schloss Taunusstein and they produced my "L" litter on 09 July 1997.   At that time Quax (who was imported from Germany by Glenn Martin of Firewind Training Kennels, Missoula Montana) was Co-Owned by Glenn Martin and Joseph Geldrich (who at that time was the Montana Lake County Sheriff).                 more to follow......

At that time, Quax von Schloss Taunusstein was 7 years old, he had not been in all those years Registered with AKC.  So Glenn and Joe set out to work acquiring all necessary documentation from Germany, and were successful in Registering Quax with AKC.  Then we had him OFA'd and at 7 years of age, his Hips were OFA Certified Excellent.  I am so very proud to have been the First Breeder in the United States to have produced a litter out of Quax.  From my "L" litter, Quax von Schloss Taunusstein x A Gretchen von Melillohaus,  i kept Lexis von Sonnenberg Hof and Lazer von Sonnenberg Hof.

My "M" litter  Ca-Ji's Melillo Reyko x Nikita von Sonnenberg Hof was born on 22 November 1997.  Out of this litter i sold the select male Marko von Sonnenberg Hof on a Co-Ownership to a local attorney with a breeding contract.  Marko von Sonnenberg Hof x Lexis von Sonnenberg Hof produced my "T" litter on 03 January 2001.        more to follow.......

my "T" litter Marko von Sonnenberg Hof x Nikita von Sonnenberg Hof was born on 03 January 2001,  and i kept Tzar von Sonnenberg Hof until he was 4 months old and then sold him to my sister on a Co-Ownership and breeding contract and shipped him to Austin Texas.  Tzar died on September 11, 2001.  Prior to his death at such a young age, Tzar had been scheduled to begin his training with the Austin Texas K9 Division.   What a tragic day !!  Tzar died at the age of 8 months of a condition something like intestinal contortion.

I sold Thor von Sonnenberg Hof to my partner,  Greg, and Thor lives with us still to this day here in Montana and is now 7 years old (he will be 8 years old on 3 January 2009) and he is OFA Excellent.

So between the years 2001 to September 2008,  i did not breed any dogs.  I focused on my art and photography.  Thor and his mother Lexis are/were our beloved companions.  Lexis passed away and died of natural causes in her sleep at the age of 10 years.  We trained them both in retrieving upland game birds and waterfowl.  They would go hiking and exploring the wilderness of Montana with us.  Thor absolutely Loves the water,  loves to spend days with us on a boat fishing, or a canoe, and play in the rivers and creeks, and hike in the forests of Montana.  Thor is magnificent and has such a delightful temperament and personality.   more to follow.......

I only just discovered pedigreedatabase on 14 December 2008.  That is the day i joined.  I set out to work registering my dogs.  it's been fun and a lot of hard work : ))   I spoke with Carol Veitenheimer ~ Ca-Ji's Shepherds, day before yesterday on the phone,  in order to register my dog Ca-Ji's Melillo Reyko, my foundation Sire of my breeding program,  i had to build his pedigree in pedigreedatabase.  I am very happy to say that much of my work on Ca-Ji's Melillo Reyko pedigree has been completed.  Carol will be updating more information on the individuals behind Ca-Ji's Melillo Reyko to fully complete his background,  but for the most part,  his pedigree is complete.  i think many of you are familiar with his sire Reyko von Adlerpass.  and i think many of you are familiar with the beautiful and wonderful dogs of Ca-Ji's Shepherds.

i am delighted to have discovered this wonderful website, PedigreeDatabase.  It is fantastic !!

Here in Montana, we have a lot of exciting events scheduled for 2009.  I fully intend to become active again in showing my German Shepherd Dogs and participating in the trials and events in Montana, Washington and Idaho.

Hi Dox !!  that's awesome.  well you know i can find Reno de Von in the pedigreedatabase,  but i cannot update Brenda vom Blockhaus's pedigree to add her sire "Reno de Von"

i really have no idea why the system will not add Reno de Von to Brenda vom Blockhaus' pedigree since Reno de Von is registered in the pedigreedatabase.

i wonder if i try again to update Brenda's pedigree and type in Reno's AKC #  in the section for "Sire"

i'll let you know : ))

Hi Inge,  thank you for replying.  i did not want Reno de Von's AKC registration number as part of his name, so i edited it back out.  I already had added Reno de Von's AKC Registeration number in his pedigree in the database,  so it is not necessary to add his AKC number as an addition to his Registered name.  He is showing up on Brenda vom Blockhaus' pedigree perfectly now.  Thank you so much Inge.  i really appreciate your helpfulness  : ))

Hi Karon,

Not much scheduled for 2009, yet, in the region, but  DO come on over for the trials and shows.  There will also be trials and shows in BC , as well.  There is a lot of "back and forth" across the border for shows and trials.  Also, there are  USA  and WDA clubs in Idaho that will be hosting trials and shows in the upcoming year.  I will send you a link to the USA and PNW websites, so you can stay abreast of the events.

The only trials I can tell you about for sure right now are in April and June in Olympia, Washington; the BC Western Regional Championship  May 1-3 at Lower Mainland Sch Club; a trial (and show?)n June at Western Rescue in BC.

There is another dog Baron von Schwartzhund he dosen't have a BH he only has a AD I also know the owner to him.
