Hey guys. So maybe you can tell me which vacuum would be the best for picking up pet hair. I've looked at these on Amazon and they have all gotten good reviews

http://www.amazon.com/Get-Organized-FUR-VAC/dp/B001B2RRMU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1229404496&sr=1-1

And there were a few others.  I have a couple of Huskies, both are shedding again, one soon to have her litter of puppies come January the 3rd. And I'm housing a dog for someone at the moment also.  The hair is confined to the basement because thats where my room is...the dog I'm taking care of stays in my room...the Huskies are outside of my room on the other side of the basment.  However we have couches, rugs, and carpet on the stairs that constantly is loaded with hair. You can't sit down for one second without it getting all over you so I'm wondering which one would you guys suggest?  And also what can I use to get it off of the clothing that it gets on also? Lint brushes can't even get it off of some types of clothes that I have, and I don't care to pick hair off my hoodie for 20 minutes haha. The material some of my clothing is made out of seems to make it where the fur sticks down in it and will not come out with a lint brush. The vacuum we have doesn't get it off the rug or the carpet either.  Suggestions?

Dyson hands down.

It's pricey, but well worth it!  It does well on GSD fur, so I'm sure that it would do great for Husky fur.  It comes with an upholostery (sp?) attachment that I've actually used on the dogs, they actually don't mind it too much.   :)

Consumer Reports is an independent, non-profit testing laboratory and their findings are here. They specifically mention pet hair in the individual reviews.

I've had a Dyson Animal for about 5 years... I've had many others from Kirby thru the spectrum.. although I think my Dyson is starting to wear down a bit..it is still doing a very good job and no other vacuum ever lasts this long in my house.... we work 'em hard!!

I have a Dyson DC17 Animal.  It's great on picking up the dog hair.  It's the one with the swivel ball so it's fairly easy to handle and maneuver.  The attachments worked great - even the stair attachment.  I'm not very fond of continually emptying the canister though - that's my only negative with this vacuum.  It's amazing what it picks up.

Just had my carpets cleaned (stairs and 2 upstairs bedrooms).  The people who cleaned them didn't think I allowed the dogs up there because they didn't pick up a lot of the hair.  I assured them the dogs are upstairs with me daily - several times a day.  They said that I must use a good vacuum cleaner then.  I told them I was just OCD and vacuumed all the time.

I have the Kenmore canister and have to agree with the overall rating above.  It works the best.  I have had it for over 5 years.  I am taking it in to get cleaned/serviced as it is showing signs of not picking up as much and it gets a good work out at least 5 times today.  Hands down has been the best to pick up after 3 shepherds that have the run of the house and furniture.

I begged for a Dyson Animal Vacuum a few years ago. I love it! works great! Only vacuum we have had that lasted this long 4 years now I think. All the others died out after less than a year. The Dyson attachments are great! They do an excellent job of getting the enormous amounts of dog fur out of the vehicles.
