Geez, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding everyone; I didn't realise that mandatory conscription was still enforced in your  countries. Thank goodness they stopped that in South Africa some 17 years ago - we are now in a position to choose whether or not we want to join our army, navy etc and that this brave choice that our brothers and sisters make for our country may cost lives. Unfortunately, these dogs won't have a choice either...

The US is an all volunteer military.    Freedom is not free and many of us thank our service personel and their families daily for their wiilingness to keep us that way.

>  lest we forget as in LE, military working dog teams primary function is that of a search tool, and we all should know there noses are much better at sniffing out bad guys hiding than any humans.

The stupid and blind american citizen should be air dropped instead of dogs.  Why waste time on intellegent animals when the stupid american public should go.     When will americans wake up and start fighting for our rights and stop letting the politcians run our lifes.

I respectfully disagree with most of you. Yes, the human life is more valuable than dogs’, but why do we have to offer the dogs as a sacrifice while we have all this technology? There must be another way to do this other than sending the poor dogs to their fate.
There’s a big difference between engaging dogs in battle along with the soldiers and just throwing them in the battlefield by themselves. There’s no chance for them to survive on their own. An injured dog could lie for hours or days to suffer without any hope that someone would rescue it.
Sending the dogs to track down the Taliban is a suicide mission, and in my opinion, not much different than the people who blow themselves up. We’re just not doing it to ourselves, we’re volunteering our best friends to do it for us. I know that this is not a very good analogy, because suicide bombers goal is to achieve maximum damage without discrimination, while the dogs would be on a search mission. However, both, suicide bombers and the dogs would be killed in the end. The only difference is the dogs did not volunteer themselves.
I did sign the petition and I hope more of you do so.

Animules...youre part of the problem

America's War for Freedom was fought over 200+ years ago.

NOT in Iraq, certainly &  Not in Afganistan either.   These are Occupations, On LIES.  Enforcing UN Resolutions.  Neither  nation attacked or threatened us.

Neither nation  has a Navy or Carrier, or Air Force.

America has 700 Military Bases in 130 nations.

We are Broke, Einstein, in case youve not realized it, but you soon will.  The day of Reckoning is upon us.

Americans deserve what they permit.

And will go the way of Rome...same downfalls-Imperialistic  & costly Occupations, now waged with Mercenaries & a Diluted population lacking homogeny ie Cultural diversity.

From Beacon Lights of History "As the Romans were sensual, ostentatious, and luxurious people, they accordingly wasted their fortunes by an extravagance in their living, which has had no parallel."

>  Unfortunatly we can send man to the moon, land a craft on distant planets, search the ocean floors, but am still unable to develop a device superior  to a dogs nose, simply awesome!!

>  Nobody wants to send them to their death anymore than a human counterpart. As I stated earlier their primary function is always that as a search tool first and formost!.

>  They are soldiers also! In any type of conflict weather "DOG" agrees with it or not, there are going to be casualties.

I don't see it as much different than sending a sniper in to find a target alone. He is on his own to do his objective and then beat feet back to his pickup place. How many men have been abandoned out there, left to find their way to somewhere safe? Both scenarios are sad, no one wants to think of a wounded soldier, be it man or dog but someone has to do it and I'd rather it be a dog than someones son, father, or husband.

Again it stuptifies my mind to think that people agree with sending dogs to continue to help support the assholes who started this bullshit war. Afganistan did not attack us as neither did Iraq. These conflicts have nothing to do with americas security as most arsehole americans believe. I am an american and I know that the attacks on our soil were engineered by false flag ops to get us involved in securing oil for oil men. My god people the existing pres of afgan. used to work for shell oil before he was appointed pres. and all the weapons of mass dest in Iraq that COULD NOT BE FOUND. cOULD NOT FIND THEM CAUSE THEY BELONGED TO US .Who the hell do you think gave sadaam all his weapons to fight our proxy war .Shamefully the americamn people are f88ckn idiots and deserve all the politicians and bankers dish out to us. So let them send more german shepherds to these war fronts and let them use Ed Frawleys defense trained dogs to protect the muslim extremests who are trying to destroy america. Not a damn thing we can do about it cause we do not have the balls to stand up for our dogs let alone our own soldiers when it comes to fighting a JUST war.

Raymond I'm fully aware we are there on false pretenses, regardless, we are there and our troops are there. I'd rather a dog lose it's life than a human who is just trying to serve our country and feed his/her family. No matter the reason, right or wrong, we are still at war, it's not as if the troops that do not agree with our occupation, can just pack their shit and leave. Still so far, I have not met a single service member who has been in OEF, that hasn't said we need to be there and help these people, no matter the "real" reason the US invaded.
