Maybe someone help me figure this out? Months ago I printed a copy of a pedigree of a dog sired by Leif from this database. I cut & pasted it then printed it. Leifs father was listed as Sasko von der Noriswand and Sasko's father listed as V Zito von der Noriswand. Now when I pull the pedigree It's V Hanno von der Wienerau listed as the father of Leif, and Hanno's father listed as VA Fedor von Arminius. I don't understand how a mistake like this could have been made. It is critical I find out what the true bloodline is as I am getting a pup fathered by Leif & I intend to breed. However I don't want to inbreed, so I need to know the true bloodline. Anyone know what the true bloodlines are? Thanks so much to anyone that can help!

According to an URMA book I have from a previous Sieger Show, Leif's father is Hanno von der Wienerau and Hanno's father is Jello von der Wienerau. Hope this helps you out.

I seen some DNA result on the web a few years ago that Leif fail his DNA TEST with a lot more dogs. I think it turned out his sire was Sasko and not Hanna. Try this link, Fred Lanting talks of it. http://realgsd.info/GSDinfo/GerAm/siegershow99.htm

Vom fallsview & bones. Thank you very much for the information. The site link from vom fallsview says Leif's DNA did NOT match Hanno, but It does not clearly state that his DNA matched Sasko. I have no idea what pedigree to go by. Is there no place, or someone that can confirm parenting on this great VA dog? Any & all hope would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Leif is a Sasko son, 2-2 on Zito as his mother marit is a zito daughter. This issue was resolved by the SV back in 99-00. New pedigrees were issued reflecting Sasko as the correct sire and the owner of Leif received fines and a suspension. Leif was sold to the Orient I believe.

I concur with M.Carter. Leif is in Hong Kong with Mr. Andy Tong, need to look at the Urma book, 1999 or 2000. So essentially Leif is a product of half brother and sister breeding right? Question if this was advertent or an accident? Roger

Sasko and Marit are half sibs out of Zito and are the correct parents for Leif. I believe it was an accident but then again, only the dogs know for sure. From what I have heard, no one was aware of it until a DNA sample from a Leif son was sent in from south america I think. I have been told it was common practice by some breeders to cover their bitch with their male if she was still standing several days after she was bred in order to make sure she didn't come up empty, but I'm not sure how accurate those rummers are since I highly doubt anyone would ever openly admit to such a thing as it's quite unethical. Of course there was no such thing as DNA testing when these "additional covers" were supposedly used so there is no way to know who is truely behind many of the dogs in the back of our pedigrees today is there. Hoss Larchenhain's sire Dorijan was a product of a fradulent pedigree which has been corrected. In his case, the fraud was intentional but since the dog was born abroad out of two untitled parents, he was allowed to remain registered and was also sold to the orient I believe. Then of course we have the tale of the 2 Enco's and that whole debocale.

Thank you to everyone that has responded. I greatly appreciate the information.

I have a grandson of Leif and also found this very odd. My pedigree lists Sasko as his father. So this is correct.
