He is comfortable in the environment and happy with the metal pipe. Looks to be a handsome male with good bone. I was surprised with the reach and drive.

Ceiling fans, open staircases, grated, slippery and unstable floors give the imported police dogs the most issues. The great majority who show those concerns overcome these after more exposure.

thanks Emoryg, you are correct, many of the dogs we test dont fail on the work, but do fail on environmentals, which is part genetic problem, and part lack of exposure as a young dog

I like him nice outgoing pup strong bone looks a strong overall pup grate attitude. I think he will succeed at any task in his future. with the right exposure and correct guidance. Obviously environment will determine how good he will be but that is were the correct expouser comes in. Best of luck Duke ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I like his attitude and engagement. I also agree about the environmentals being genetic and think that years of schutzhund/IGP has polluted the gene pool because it is such a poor way to assess/breed dogs for work. I think some people would be surprised, and I bet a fair amount of top sport dogs would have issues if stressed with environmentals. Proper exposure can do a lot with a good dog who is initially a little leery of environmental stressors. A lot of the top sport GSDs have a high enough level of prey to mask confidence issues, like with many Mals.

What is the general criteria for selection to the LE breeding program? Is the breeding stock by law required to be titled/surveyed in addition to having a LE K9 certification? This pedigree looks stacked with several Cz lines up front, backed by older Cz lines (zPs); as well as east/west German working lines.

by duke1965 on 16 January 2020 - 12:01

criteria for LE breedingprogram is suitability for LE, nothing more nothing less, nobody cares about titles, as they are trained behaviour and tell you nothing about suitability for any other venue

I use many OLD Czech lines in my breedingprogram, as they bring balanced dogs with good level of civil agression, I look for breedingdogs that can bring what it takes, dont care so much which individual dogs are in it or not, but generally dont find (m)any IPO famous dogs in my breeding

Really like this pup, nice engagement and focus, looks to be a very biddable dog. How old is he in the video?
duke- do you think that it is possible to predict what a dog's hunt drives will be as an adult at 8 weeks old? Seems 50/50 for breeders I've spoken to saying that you can or can't accurately predict this.

by duke1965 on 17 January 2020 - 00:01

pup is about 15 weeks, its pretty hard to predict totally,as some pups improve over time and some dont, but dogs like this will be no problem, I know the parents and know the pups, large percentage of this litter retrieve metal and have high posession, than it all depends on the work we put in after that
