I know it's not all about winning and most importantly one should just enjoy ones beloved gsd, however i have noticed that in
our local shows here in cape town, south africa that alot of junior handlers are getting high places albeit the dog they are handling might not be as
good in terms of what the sv standard requires it to be. Are the judges just to lenient are my eyes deseaving me, lol.
Please share your thoughts and experiences.

It depends on whether these are Show Classes in which handlers of all ages can take part, but the charms of youth
are being placed above the worth of the dog the Junior is handling ; or whether they actually are 'Junior HANDLING'
classes, where it is not the breed specimen being judged, but the youngsters are being judged against each other.
I am all for encouraging the handlers of the future, but the Show Committee needs to make it crystal clear which the
event or class is.

No; junior handling is NOT about conformation of the dog it is about the Jr. Handler; how is that Jr. handling that dog on that day. Although here in the US we do have some that try to judge more on the conformation of the dog(s) than they should personally I like to see a Jr. handler with a good dog not some reject as if they continue their quest for professionally handling dogs in their future I feel it helpful to have a good dog that has an impecable temperament as well as conformation; just a little pet peave of mine. I think the Jr. needs to learn about the conformation of any breed not just being in the spot light. Nan
