Hi, im new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has bought any of the leerburg training videos, and if you did, what's your opinion on them? Are they worth the price? I was specifically looking at the "Establishing Pack Structure with the Family Pet DVD" http://leerburg.com/308.htm

The Michael Ellis videos are the best videos available on the subjects that Michael Ellis covers. A lot of Michael Ellis videos are available free on the Leerburg site.

Hello,
I have bought various videos/DVD's from Leerburg and have been very happy with them. Among those I have bought are "The foundation of puppy bite work with Michael Ellis" "The power of playing tug with your dog with Michael Ellis" and " How to raise a working puppy" all of which were well worth the money!!
They also have very good quality training products which I have bought and find to be very high quality. These are used for my son to help train his German shepherd import 12 weeks old today. Well worth the price. Below is a younger picture of my sons pup.

Hope this helps,

I think some of the DVDs mentioned are by Ed Frawley, not Michael Ellis. I personally find Leerburg DVDs very convoluted. The power of playing tug, if I recall correctly, was about 4-5 hrs. Or maybe that was the heeling DVD. In any case, they could be made a lot shorter and to the point. As much as I like Michael Ellis, his DVDs have not been very helpful to me, with the exception of " teaching protection skills w/o decoy". For heeling, I would recommend Sylvia Trckman's "heeling is just another trick" - about 40 min and starts with teaching puppies. I personally have struggled with the heeling as Michael Ellis teaches it in his DVD. IMO, there is a piece of info missing, specifically about how to teach/ proof the correct position. I went through a number of DVDs and trying different concepts (including platforms) and Sylvia's method was the one that totally clicked for Chaos. For speed and going around objects ( blinds) cik and cap, even though it is an agility DVD, it is very easy to transfer the concepts.
I guess what I am saying is, as awesome Michael Ellis is, don't limit yourself to Leerburg. There is a wealth of info/teaching styles out there and it is your job to figure out what works for you and your dog. Bowwowflix could be a good resource.
You will find a lot of articles on Leerburg by Ed Frawley on pack structure and so on, if that is the way you would like to go. Not sure you necessarily need a dvd.
HTH.

Stick with the Michael Ellis stuff and you'll be safe. The older stuff (except for the Flinks series) isn't worth the money IMO
If you're interested in Nose Work or Bite Suit then Andrew Ramsey and Mark Keating DVD's are good
