Hi,

I am located in Easton, MD 21601 and I am desperately looking for a club to join and train my GSD puppy in. I have searched several of the SCH websites, but was told that the club listings may be outdated on there, so I thought I'd give this forum a try. Thus far I have found nothing within a 2 hour drive.

I am very open to any and all other suggestions for training/sports within my area as well!

Thank you!

Andy

If your dog or puppy is less than 6 months old you don't need a club to train .. at 6 to 10 months perhaps some beginning protection but the tracking and obedience portions of IPO can easily be trained solo.

DO find a club, even with a young pup. Clubs are valuable for socialization, and " hands on" assistance that you cannot receive from internet trolls. You have been given links to USCA & WDA ckubs. Also check the dvg website ( dvgamerica.com). Be aware that if you do schutzhund, you travel. 2 hours is within the normal drive range- outer edge, but " normal." :-) I have always driven at least an hour to club. Also look into unaffiliated training groups. They often function like clubs, but are not affiliated with any national organization and trial at other clubs' events.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, I do want to find a club or minimally a group to train with.

I should have made it clearer in my original post, but the websites you all suggested thus far are the ones I already did review. I also understand that many people drive 2 plus hours to get to a club, but due to personal reasons that is not an option for me.

I was that the above mentioned websites may not be up to date, plus members may train at other locations than at their club.

So, I am hoping to find a group or club to train with close to Easton, MD 21601.

What is currently listed in the sites is all pretty far away.

Thank you!!

Get hold of Steve House.  Sheesh can clarify but I think they're training in or near Bowie, MD which is a little over an hour from Easton.

I train at a club in Waldorf Maryland and we are holding our spring trial on Sat. Check the dvg website for more info.
