It is a tool used more for police, PSA, and PPD candidates than sport or pet training. Of course there are exceptions, but most SCH training fields are not going to have tables or do muzzles training. Many many years ago the two mixed, (especially muzzles), but SCH is very specialized today for what they are seeking. ( remember I said there are exceptions, but even among the exceptions in sport you will probably find these people work or train with police or PPD people).

So many people don't work on True Aggression for Schutzhund...I think this is something that is missing in Sport training...I think they mainly train for show only and not for what the dog can really do and don't bring out the true natural ability of our German Shepherds...Therefore we breed some dogs that aren't breed worthy...
It's a fact that the True Aggression is being bred out of our German Shepherds...We need to be sure to keep this trait in our dogs...
I think "table training" is a very good tool to use to not only bring out True Aggression but it teaches the dog many things...Like it's been said..."It's a good Tool"...To be used by people who know what they're doing...It can be used incorrectly and can also cause harm if done wrong...

As Q Man said it can be a good tool IF USED CORRECTLY, but if not, it can give you a very unstable and dangerous dog. I have personally seen LEO and protection "professionals" use it and wreck their dogs. Unfortunately, some of these guys don't even recognize the damage they did. And if you're doing SCH, I don't believe it serves a purpose. Here is Ed's article for those interested.

I know WUSV competitors that use table training. I've seen their results and I use it myself for SchH dogs and Patrol dogs. Many people knock the things they don't understand. I would take Frawley with a grain of salt.

Gustav: We use it all the time in Schutzhund training when needed we have 3 different tables. Again it,s just another tool some dogs excell on it some don,t need it.
