EAST WEST FRONT FEET CORRECTIONS - Page 1

A question to all experienced GSD Show enthusiasts and breeders. I have an 8 months old female puppy and we participated the Philippine 2011 Sieger Show last Saturday. As per the German judge SV Frank Goldlust (von Frankengold) my dog has an East West front feet. My question is, can I still correct them and how to correct the feet. Thanks

No. You can't fix her. She toes out....but no dog is perfect!

Thanks guys. I guess I have to accept that she can not be the dream show dog that I thought she will be.

A slight easty westy feet will often correct when the ribs spring, you still have some hope, and as said no dog is perfect.

If you consider the front assembly alone , as a whole it should be in equilibrium from top of mid shoulder blade till the foot, imagine a line that starts from top mid of shoulder blade passing through the point of elbow and down to tip of pastern and this is the center of gravity of the front assembly of a dog. For a dog to stand east west there are several reasons, if the reason is incorrect shoulder lay then it will remain the same and it will not correct in future, another possible reason is the points of elbows are turned in throwing the direction of leg out and the reason behind this is narrow and short depth of chest, then as dog matures and the ribs spring and chest gains more depth then feet may straighten up, I've seen this self correction in two GSDs after 18 months age. There is a hope but it depends on the reason behind east west feet plus how bad the case is.

I am not aware of any specific excercise for correcting east west feet
