Do you feed once per day or twice??  Curious as to benefits of once or twice?  Thx in advance  Nan

Hey Nan,
I feed once a day because of my schedule.  I would prefer to feed twice a day especially with the amount I feed.  If I worked a normal schedule I would feed a snack in the morning and the rest in the evening.

Once a day most of the time. My dogs are working dogs so I prefer to train them on an empty stomach. They are doing extremely well with once a day only in the evening.

mostly 1x a day, but my youngest (16 months) gets 2x a day due to her being light weight...

Mornings are kept light  because when i leave for work they go into a kennel, and my dogs do not use bathroom in their kennels they hold it till I come home and let them out, so if i do feed them in the morning its usually a defrosted chicken breast, or turkey neck and than a nice dinner. Sometime to avoid boredom if its raining, or too cold i give them bones in am to keep them busy...

Thank you all,   Jim does your older girl do OK once a day also??  That is one of my concerns since I have 2 seniors.  Also the larger amount for once per day feeding.  Kind of concerning.

Mimi:  what a beautiful boy you have.  Really impressive.

Ladyfrost:  I agree with the PM feeding mostly, a small something in AM is good, with larger amount in PM.  That is what I do now but was thinking about going once per day, mid day??  Not sure though.

Thanks to all  Nan

PS:  don't know how this got under training/ob??

Nan,
I am impressed that you remember my little peanut, Annabelle.  She is almost 13 years old and gets about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs per day.  She eats whole chicken leg quarters in her food with no problems.  She does absolutely fine on one feeding.  Her volume of food is not that large and I don't worry about bloat.  It is now 4:30 AM and I got home form work at 2:30 AM and fed the dogs at 3:30 AM.  I will be up tracking at 9 AM and back to work at 6:30 Pm tomorrow evening to do it all over again.

Like I said my schedule is crazy and the dogs get fed late and then put to bed.  The dogs will get a snack of an apple or other fruit during the day most days, but that is about it.  I do ensure that they are calm and rest after feeding.  If I could I would feed twice a day,  I think it would be  beneficial.

I feed 2x/day. They get 1/2 daily ration at each feeding. The only exception is on Sun, when we have club training. They get something small early am, before going to training(2hr drive).

Well I think general concensous is that 2 x's per day is probably better for the dogs which is what I have been doing;  was hoping to cut some corners but don't think I will.

Jim glad your girl is doing so well my girl will be 13 Dec. 28, 2011 and is also doing very well on the raw and don't think I will rock her boat at this time.  Thx  Nan

Once a day, evenings.  They do get treats such as chicken feet, goats head, bones in the am.

Here is a site that could help you. Look under the "other" tab for "raw feeding".
