Seems pretty barbaric until you consider what the woman went through. In addition, if the woman does not follow through with the punishment, the guy who blinded and disfigured her will be forgiven There are no other options according to the article.

It's not nearly as barbaric as what he did to her, at least he'll be sedated. I hope she does it!

I remember when this incident happened. Horrible!
He has literally ruined her life, while he may get off scot free. Nothing like a taste of one's own medicine to create some empathy in him. He has probably been sweating a bit lately and I think that is great.
If they are doing an eye for an eye, he shouldn't get to be sedated either...

This type of disfigurement is more common than many believe. It is usually done to women by men who were spurned (or for any number of reasons such as a father being angry the child born was a girl so he set the infant on fire), it is done with acid or fire. Many girls in Afghanistan had acid thrown in their faces by the Taliban for going to school. I can understand the victim not wanting to perform the act herself. This man and others like him should have it done to them WITHOUT an form of anesthesia. but who is the one that will step forward and perform the punishment? Some victims or victims' families would do it and others would not..........
