Heh, heh, heh, holy man my a$$.  Pervert really! What other kind of person would accept a 15 year old virgin girl as a gift?!

...(Maybe Ace, but he's only interested in terrorizing that beast of a dog he has into compliance, from what I understand.....)

What I find interesting in this OBL killing are the number of conspiracy theories that have sprung up all over the world. Here are a few:

OBL died years ago of kidney failure and his so-called killing is fiction to bolster Obama's re-election chances and to enable him to declare victory and leave Afghanistan.

Pakistan was in on the Navy Seals mission but said that they would deny they knew anything about it so that it would not inflame their population if it was known that they cooperated with the US

The person killed by the Seals was a double and that OBL is still alive

OBL's #2 betrayed him and revealed his location through others because of differences of opinion and his wish to take command of AQ

OBL was captured alive and is under interrogation by the CIA and after they are done with him, they will kill him and dispose of his body

Pakistan was fully aware of OBL's location and wanted to keep him safe because as long as he was alive the US would be hunting him and would need Pakistan's cooperation - and would continue to provide billions in aid

I am sure there are other conspiracy theories floating around.

Apparently one of the reasons that the US had so much difficulty interecepting OBL through his communications was that he/someone would type his messages on a computer at his hideaway. It would be copied on a flash drive and the courier would then take the flash drive to an internet cafe and copy/paste what was written and send it in an email.

Re marrying the 15 year old - that is a cultural difference and I don't know whether it would be the basis for concluding that he was a pervert.

Yep, it is, not like he didn't already have a couple extra wives hanging about... ! The pervert! The whole holy man gig is a sham for promoting hatred and making women second class citizens. IMHO Whitewash it with cultural differences, but an honorable, non-lecherous man his age should have refused the "gift", obviously  he must have liked what he saw.

He's a pig.  Not a great loss to the world now that he is gone.

OBL was evil incarnate and was the cause of the death of tens of thousands of people - most of them Muslims. 

OBL never presented himself as a "holy man" or  an imam, but he believed in an interpretation of Islam which was very fundamentalist. There are millions in Saudi Arabia who practise the same form of Islam - they are Wahabis.

My only issue is whether one can conclude that because he was married to a 15 year old that would make him a pervert. There are many people in the ME who do marry much younger women - some in their teens.

If watching porn makes one a pervert - then we have an awful lot of perverts here in this country.  Also, there were others in the compound and who knows to whom the porn belonged.

I am not trying to whitewash anything but I know that in the Middle East and parts of Asia, our customs and mores are viewed as immoral and promiscuous. It ranges from the way we dress - especially Western women - to the way we display public affection. As a result, Western women traveling alone in many countries are subject to harassment and viewed as "easy".

Many easterners view the US - and much of the West - as being morally bankrupt. They view us as being a sick, depraved society with our tolerance of gay rights, the millions of abortions performed each year, the rate of pregnancy among single women, etc.

I believe there is a danger in assuming customs and standards that prevail in this country should be applied elsewhere in the world. As far as the role of women in the East, yes, they do not have the rights and opportunities that women have in the West so you have no argument from me there. Interestingly, two of the three wives that OBL had with him when he was killed, held a PhD, so they were not uneducated.

I am reminded of one these programs I saw a few months ago where there was this Mormon - who claimed that he was following true Mormonism - who had something like seven common law wives  and three were high educated. I think one was an attorney and another was a college lecturer and they appeared on the program and said that they were perfectly happy with the arrangement. Most of the audience was horrified.  I felt that if they were not coerced into marriage and were in the arrangment willingly, then it was their right. I cannot judge others because their values are different than mine.

Did you ever read the book, Under the Banner of Heaven, by Jon Krakauer? 

What makes OBL a pervert in my eyes is the fact he accepted a girl as a gift when at his age he could have been her father, and had a stash of porn in his bedroom, while claiming to be a "holy man" . That some of his wives have  PhD's and live like virtual prisoners, is mind boggling, to say the least. 

There certainly are lots of Americans I would consider morally bankrupt, but I'm not one of them.

The marriage was arranged and she was betrothed to Bin Laden when she was 15 years old. They were MARRIED when she was 18.

I am not able to comprehend the view that because another culture does things in a way that we would deem not to be the norm it deserves condemnation. In a sense that is precisely the reasoning that OBL took in viewing any society that did not adhere to his views of morality and faith  as being depraved.

Given that OBL's 15 year old betrothed is Yemeni, this excerpt from the above link is relevant:

But tribal customs and interpretations of Islam often trump the law. There are innumerable examples of men in the US and the West who marry women who are young enough to be their daughters. I would not view that as a perversion. Men who divorce and marry for the second time almost invariably marry women who are much younger than their first wives.

Re: OBL watching porn given his proclaimed piety, it makes him a hypocrite - but we have lots of those in every faith.

Here are some statistics which suggests that if watching porn is associated with perversion we must be a very perverted people:

I felt that releasing information that OBL may have watched porn was counter-productive. Even if he did not, the vast majority of Americans would not have found him any less deplorable. The reaction of Muslims, OTOH, is to dismiss the claim because the vast majority don't believe it and feel that it was planted or is a made up story to destroy his reputation among Muslims. It is not dissimilar to the story that was initially put out that OBL used his young wife as a human shield - a report that was subsequently amended to say that she sought to protect him and made aggressive moves against the Seals.

If that B-----d had not been killed as your President Obama explained what had taken place, He and the USA would be finished as a credible power in this world and a laughing stock.
That would never be allowed to happen and they got him there is no doubt about that and a very good job done.
As for the USA being in a bad way finacially, Probably they are so it is the same over here we are all in the same boat, we are all struggling to keep afloat they is the truth.
All we can hope for that it will settle down , In the mean time just keep living without taking from others thats the best anyone can do.
