I don't understand why people cut down someone's methods. If you don't agree with them, don't comment, put up your superior methods, ask why they use their method, or tell them why you dislike their method. I hate reading someone's comments when they just bluntly ridicule with nothing to back it up. If you're simply that fantastic, great! Educate us. If you're not here to educate, go to the OT section.

Proofs in the pudding

Leeshideaway, "proof is in the pudding"? I'll take that as you believe I have done something other than I proposed. If I am correct, please cite a thread where I have done such. Sure, I disagree, but I'll tell you why and what I do. I don't believe I've ever told anyone their method sucks and anot given an explanation. No method sucks if it gets results for YOU. I may not like it, but that's just ME. I don't have to like it, but I don't have to feel superior because I don't like it. How many ways are there to skin a cat?

No offence to you, I was agreeing with you.
If someone has a different or new method, explain and show me (us), the proof is in the pudding. (video - etc..)

Oh, ok. Like I stated, wasn't sure what you meant. So we agree! If you disagree with something, fine, but back it up. Nothing wrong with a healthy disagreement.

Don .. i want to state with sincerity .. that you make a good honest, important &  valid point .. although .. i do have a concearn ... i won't use the word 'Method' .. BUT i have been with GSDs [ and other breeds training] for a very long time... ther worst feature i have seen are people being exploited with their dogs because they are led to believe [ and not led to THINK for themselves  that ] you do this .. or you do that ... if a so called Guru preaches it .. this is the way ...  ::: this is troubling ... because DON ,  YOU are well versed enough to know each dog / each handler / each pairing of the two .. is different ..[ others are not well experinced ] ..  a small yarn .. my friend went to a  dog seminar [ several at that ] .. he was an accomplished helper too . he trained dogs for Sch , ring , etc. ... we were new friends .. he thought i knew very little about canines .. So months after training and seeing what he was doing - although the dogs worked well  .. i opened my mouth [ got in troulbe a usual] ... I stated " the dogs are working great but i don't like how they are working .. they are fired up .. BUT .. they are to hectic and at times frantic !! [BTW , this leas top latr control problems]  well he blasted me .. he used what he had leanred from other seminars in the past .. OK .. two weeks later he drives to Conn. USA for a sewminar with a Judge from France .. so I aksed , ' did you learn anything ? .. he forgot earlier .. and he enthusiastically states " the judge stated , ' the dogs are way to frenzied , ie hectic "!! the moral : and you as a person understand this , but many don't .. I is my hope that everyone  has emough undewrstanding to know that you must first   know the dog , ourselves and then decide what and how we do things with our dogs .. don't think mehtodology or techniques foremost.  .. IT is not prudent to say .. what technique do you do , what mehthod do you do ... perhaps that is wjhy thier are training directors and people that give dog classes for sports ..   ALL So CALLED METHODS HAVE THIER MERIT AND PLACE .. i think we should all ask , new comers and veterans unlike give the criteria , how best do we go about communicating to the dog ! how is it that i can get thew dog to think and behave as to how i want[ choosing from our experices from what will work ] .. don't rush to oh .. this IS the [1] way we do it or that a way  .. this is what i want folks on the forum to read and understand ..

Agree. I think that is why these threads are valuable. Your last dog, was your last dog. What worked for him might not work for your current. That is why it is nice to share ideas. Seminars are great to spectate at. Knowledge you learn may not be useful today, but tomorrow never knows.

DITTO ,  Don .. BTW i think it is very very nice .. that YOU  have placed a number of TOPICS for people to better themselves and their dogs .. although a thread won't give ALL the answers and knowledge needed .. your posted threads are a great way to start ..QUITE CONSTRUCTIVE at that !!

Enjoyed reading your posts however in your above statement, you assumed that I (as I can only speak for myself here) have past experiences,  various methodologies and techniques in my bag for use with the right sort of dogs.  But I don't have X-number of years experiences, nor do I have various methodologies and techniques that is why I am interested to know/ learn from others when they share their training experiences good/ bad so that I don't have to scratch my head/ pull my hair when the tough gets going :)

I am always interested to know how others overcome their problems in dog training and of course their proven methods which brought them success as well.

BTW, I also read, watch loads of videos (lol) and attend seminars.
