Koach, are those the only two ways that they introduce bite work on FR? (I'll be sure to put that on my list of questions to ask).
Also, about dogs getting hurt, shouldn't the decoy know how far and how hard to push a dog, and when to stop?
I don't know if I'll want to title into the higher ranks, but I do want to get the Brevet, at the minimum. My dog and how well she does and how much she enjoys it will dictate whether or not I'll title her higher.
Malndobe, what days are you going to be at the championships?

Also, about their teeth, would training them to have a full bite, rather than a frontal bite, on the suit help at least a little with the teeth getting worn?
If training a bit longer to get a full bite could possibly save some teeth (and vet bills), then I'd go that route.
SchH seems unappealing, in the way everything has to be perfect. I like FR's 'as long as the job gets done' mentality....

Konotashi,
In R3 the decoys push the rules to the limit in trials. Just look at some videos from LA FINALE DE RING from France and you will see. In Ring it's trial decoy versus the dog not the trial decoy accommodating the dog. On ESQUIVES the dog grabs onto what he can catch not what is presented or set up for him. Try to get a full bite and miss and there goes 5 or more points. In R2 and R3 shit happens. Dogs get hurt. It's part of the game and for some competitors the dogs are tools and are not considered the way you and me consider a dog.
Cheers,

So a miss does, in fact, cost points? (Still learning). :)
There seems to be a lot less info out there about FR than there is about SchH. Probably due to popularity, I'm sure....
Also, dogs can get hurt in just about any sport, though I'm not sure how severe dogs can get injured in FR.
