Duke those were great videos. Very nice looking pup.  That does seem a little more like my style of training.  But as I've said Nala is my fun dog and I had never tried the military finish so the brick work seemed like it would be fun to try.  I did have a question though since you mentioned it and it has been mentioned before.  People have said they use the brick work to make the dog aware of it's back end.  What exactly do you mean by that I'm sure it's a fairly simple answere but I was wondering because I have never taught my dogs to be aware of their back end, they pretty much all know it's there.

Better aware of how their back end moves and how to move it independently of the front. Is like the canine form of dressage which is the basics a horse needs to be ballanced and supple to perform higher training type sports. It makes the dog think in moving front and rear seperatly to achieve cross movement smoothly.

donnerstorm , basically every dog reacts front first , as there is the head/drive  to the ball , meat  or whatever you reward with
old style training was training respons to reward ,  which means  front first , new style is teaching awarenes of rear and   working with rear alone or separate  from front

I teach Rally at a local club and for advanced/excellect Rally levels the dog has to walk backwards, and do pivots where the dog is basically moving in a C shape around as the handler pivots in place.  SO many dogs, especially those lower in drive, have a hard time getting their bottoms to move first rather than just following their front.  I joke and say I am going to have a "butt awareness" class one of these days ;)  I have one dog that does a beautiful flip finish... drive certain helps in getting that!
